Yeah I can imagine in an office or working from home where you might need to know what is going on. I always get a hell of a fright when my partner walks up behind me when I have headphones on.

You might be better off getting a secondhand pair of more upmarket headphones than a cheap pair of new ones. I have a pair of Sennheiser MM-550Xs that I bought off TM in 2019 that have the feature you're after.

Got Hesh ANC, not perfect but does the job, thanks for the suggestion.

I use JBL Live 400BT headphones for work, which are pretty good.

I had some Skull Candy ones, but the hinge and the headband failed within a few weeks.

The JBL's are much more robust.

Currently available from Warehouse Stationery for $150.00

I wear glasses, so they can become a little uncomfortable after a couple of hours of constant use, with the earcups pressing against the ears/glasses arms, but you get that with any on-ears.

There's also an over-ear version, at PB Tech for $199 which are effectively the same headphones but over-ear.
