hello

all of a sudden last night the microwave stopped working so am now looking for a trustable brand / model microwave . any feedback or good models please suggest .

any negative on the 3 in one types ( oven + microwave + air fry , breville has one listed for 850nzd # https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/breville-32l-the-combi-wave-3-in-1-convection-microwave---stainless-steel/N201645.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=CjwKCAiA9aKQBhBREiwAyGP5lX5AXyH_qHUxnLdqWgjs6N8JPwBkVyjzwmHmDLQ16G17JsA9vlYPWRoCSCMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

cavity space available is H 32 x D 52 x W 58

thanks for your help in advance : )

We have a kitchen aid equivalent of that model and it's incredible, best microwave.. actually.. best oven we have ever owned too! its great for baking cakes.. comes up to temp so quick!

One thing to be wary of with these microwave ovens is that they need to have quite a bit of clearance around it for ventilation.. check the recommended clearances before buying! a lot are recommended bench top rather than in enclosures

Older Panasonics were good, but the model we got last year doesn't display power levels and the finest resolution is 10 seconds. If you want to reheat a small roll, 10 seconds isn't long enough and 20 seconds burns your fingers.

The only things wrong with the old one was that it was attached to a built-in oven that was failing and the door latch had broken. I fixed the latter with a cable tie a year or so earlier as the only other option was to replace the whole door.

On the positive side, the sensor reheat function works well.

Not Panasonic. The UI is not good, you sometimes have to hit "clear" before you can use it, which is annoying. Also you can't turn the beep off. I'm not a fan of Panasonic, their heating systems are not as good as other brands either.

We have a Panny ST667W Its good, inverter. So 50% is not 100% For half the time then 0%, its 50% .

If I were buying a microwave now I would get one of these

https://www.harveynorman.co.nz/home-appliances/kitchen-appliances/microwaves/panasonic-32l-combination-microwave-oven.html

We steam a lot but alas the earlier one we got did not have a very powerful steamer so we don't use it as much as we can sticking to a wok or steamer over the hob. But the new ones are so much better that I would be prepared to spend the $1300 for this if I could get the finance committee to agree :-)

My Panasonic also has a very buggy UI.
Sometimes I have to power off/on to reset the menu/UI .
Sometimes the ~quick 30sec~ button doesnt do anything (another bug , its not the button)

I thought Panasonic would be better than that . Lesson learnt .

Our microwave (second hand from inlaws) broke recently so they bought us one of these Panasonic NN-87KS

It's a microwave, grill, oven and "air fryer" device.
(Note there is a large variety air fryers, this does not replace a true air fryer which uses very hot air at very high speed to facilitate oil-esque cooking.)

Pros:
Heats up much faster than our full size oven.
Cooks food better and more evenly than our oven.
Automatic reheat option takes the guess work out.
Combination cooking modes speeds up and takes the guess work out of cooking.
Relevant and functional cooking modes for kids junk food (nuggets, chips, savouries etc) make them easier to cook.
Can handle a large roast easily.
Very easy to clean.
Included manual is very detailed and easy to follow (includes pretty much all the tips you'll need).

Cons:
Device gets really hot (duh) so cannot place anything on top like our old microwave.
Fans go for longer than cooking mode (barely a con - I'm happy it's safer than having something extremely hot cool down by itself)

We barely use the oven any more and it's much easier to time everything to be ready on time.

Another view for Sharp Carousel. Cheap, easy to use, good even heating and just works well. Whatever you choose, definitely get one with Instant Start. That is the #1 feature in my book.

I don't understand this, now you have to watch it and count yourself etc.

Anything that adds to cognitive load needs redesigning in my books.

Best case scenario it saves you one press as you could hit 10m start and achieve the same?

I guess it would work if it started the moment you pressed a timed button and could continue adding to the time while it's still going.

E.g press: 10s, it automatically starts, then press 1m x2 , press 10s x2 to get you up to 2m30. Only saves you one press though and maybe 5s.

we've used our oven once since getting the microwave oven.. and that one time we used it, it reminded us why we don't use it anymore :)

We have this:

https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/lg-23l-neochef-smart-inverter-microwave/N170075.html

Just bought a replacement after 18momths, the front is toughened glass. We dropped a glass bottle of sauce against the top edge and it shattered into lots of little pellets…
