Again this is only anecdotal-level evidence, but I find the same with my devices, battery life improves over several charges. At most of the other forums I frequent (Mobile-review, symbian-freak etc) others report the same.

sounds like I'm too late but here's my two cents worth anyway.
Both the sony and the ipod come with average headphones.
If you plug a good set of headphones into each of them you will clearly hear that the sound quality on the sony is superior to the ipod.

Ezzie: So I bought the 16gb Nano, and while i like how easy it is to use and all the features - the battery life is shocking!

I have a Cowon with an advertised battery life of 55 hours and I haven't managed to run it dry yet.

Ezzie - go to http://ilounge.com... and take a look at all the bits and pieces they have on the Nano as well as the forums section specifically for the Nano.

It's an invaluable resource.

Cheers
