Perhaps you could try and update the firmware (if you haven't done so and it isn't the latest already)...

I always expect that the new firmware would be on there. Damn my high expectations

I recently purchased a Kindle wifi only, and have not had any problems.

Just a quick thought, is your router set up to automatically allocate a dhcp address? It may be worth checking.

Yea it is set up to automatically do this. Im pretty certain anyway

I had problems and it seems it won't work with SSID broadcast turned off.

If that's not the issue, I'd play around with the other little settings like that on the router.
