richms: So change the socket if/when that happens? So long as they go in the standard US flushboxes then its not a drama unless someone has committed the decorating sin of painting/plastering up to the powerpoint and got it on the powerpoint.
3g: We have these at all our workstations:

4 way powerboard, 2 USB
IIRC, they were about $15 each (wholesale price).

Niel:
Low cost, unbranded products use low cost connectors (some high cost products do also). The standard USB connector is rated for only 500 unsertions max, some even less. Good quality USB connectors are rated for 1,500 insertions. Best quality in the order of 3,000. (Mini and Micro USB is rated about 3x higher than standard USB.)
It is very hard to know which is a good quality product without opening it and even then you do not know the part number for the connector so you cannot find its rating. The safe options are go for a good brand name like Belkin, or get the cheap stuff knowing it is not good and will need replacement. It is not a case of just paying for the brand name.
