Would never rely on Alexa for sole control of home automation.

Just got an Echo dot 2nd gen. I know you can get a remote for the echo and I already have a bluetooth speaker that connects ok. Question : Has anyone managed , or is it possible to have a Bluetooth headset connected to alexa for questions and answers?

I paired my headphones and it only seemed to use the stereo audio profile, no headset connection at all.

I suppose a clunky way would be to ask the question via the remote and hear the reply via a bluetooth headset

I want to capture the Reply that Alexa gives ie

"Alexa open the pod bay doors"

"I'm sorry Dave I cant do that I'm not Hal and we are not in space" (Capture this part as a sound file)

Is there a easy way to do this

I just got my first dot and was really confused why lots of options weren't available in the config. For instance the only option in music were Amazon and TuneIn with Spotify and Pandora etc greyed out. My country was set to United States and language was set to English US. In the end I changed my default address on the Amazon account portal under devices to my YouShop address and all good.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and not sure whether everyone just co-incidentally had it set up that way already.

Hi all, sorry for jumping in a little off topic.

I've been listening to Spotify since I got my echo about a year ago and thanks to geekzone posts I've been able to get her doing most of what I want.

I've since discovered that the cutting off the end of every song and starting somewhere into the song isn't a 'typical' spotify experience. On my other devices I can go into the setup and disable the options that prevent a silent period in the music and the fade songs so that on all my other devices spotify works great.

On my Echo when I try to go into settings it send me to the spotify 'app' on my laptop so I can't change the device specific settings.

Anyone else getting songs chopped off and have they found a fix?

Many thanks

s

Personally I have only used it with Pandora, and never had any problems. I use the free version as well. I believe with spotify, it only works with the the paid version on the echo, and not the free version. So you may want to at least try Pandora.

Hello guys,

Could anyone here help with getting the 'Amazon Alexa' app, for android, to run the Amazon Echo?

It is only supported in the US and UK but I was wondering if there is a way of getting it on a phone here.

Thanks. Appreciate any help!
