I have been meaning to ask I at first had the echo then I bought a dot then I sold my echo and I find the dot seems to do everything the echo does. What am I missing?

The echo has reportedly better audio because the enclosure is bigger so there's better 'bass'.
The benefit of the dot is that there is an audio out so you can play music via an external pair of speakers. The problem is the speech also goes via the external speakers which doesn't work at all is the amplifier is off.
I'd be keen to hear if amazon are going to do an update whereby the speech is via the in-built speaker so it's always on but the music will be ported to the audio output. That would be bangin'.

Yes it works! You can call or message others in NZ who have an Amazon echo... It's a revolution!!!!!! Just update the apk and you're good to go! The echo glows green when you have a message!
