2.0.1050.1 is the latest. The app icon changes. If you have the app installed just click on it through the play store and it'll update for you.
This is amazing.

I have 2.0.1050.1. Got it off apkpure. Dodgy as. I couldn't wait for the update via the Amazon app. We have been calling the neighbours tonight as they have an echo as well. Very entertaining.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

How about the power supply for it? It doesn't look like it uses a micro USB plug like the echo dot.

Search for it within play store and it should come up.
This is amazing. We are witnessing the end of the smartphone...

Say what now? End of the smartphone, don't be daft. A Smartphone is portable, doesn't require an internet connection to make calls and is capable of FAR more than even the show could do.

I am a little disappointed that it doesn't work as an intercom if all your echo's are on one account - because you call the account not the device. This means you can't for example "call downstairs echo" you can only call all echo's on your account. I hope they add some device specific capability in future. Also FYI messaging doesn't work on the TAP.

(edit corrected my terrible typing)

Well, that's horrible news on both counts. I was expecting it to work between two devices on the same account.

OK, so the calling/messaging feature can work for anyone, all they need is the Alexa app to be installed on their phone if they don't have an Echo-whatever.

This makes it a competitor to WhatsApp et-al but with voice support.

It's not the death of the smart phone, it's another app that people need to install to make sure they can receive messages from people who want to use an Echo. I'm underwhelmed thanks to my distaste for the growing plethora of mesaging apps one needs to use so all generations in the family bother to communicate.

I have tested it on my dot to an iPhone and there is a good 1-2 second delay in the voice transmission which isn't great

I wonder if you can call your own Echo at home from your phone.

Will the Echo ring or auto answer or not possible at all?
