Interesting, maybe not given that they're not directly connected to 240V? I might worry a bit about fitment with AU/NZ mounting boxes.

Psilan:

Mine are Iconic - could even be worse.

I didn't see any way to modify them to be like the higher priced ?BLE? pushbutton mechs.

I’ve got the higher priced iconic BLE mechs and can confirm they’re no better

Thank goodness for that. I kicked myself a bit with the firmness of the Iconic and thought the BLE's might have been better!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Can't you get true push-button with BLE though? Not the rocker "push button".

Looks like there are fly-leads from the switch that are wired into the Shelly module - so the switch will be directly connected to 240V (assuming the Shelly is). You'd probably need to import flush boxes/brackets in the EU standard size - then enlarge the switch holes in your wall linings - it's quite a commitment to the platform.

Yeah I have the true push button. When I say they’re no better, I mean the fact that you press them sometimes and nothing happens, and they’re so slow to respond. They’re certainly not firm or difficult to press though.

Did anyone have issues with the dimmer 2 firmware update?

I updated one of my dimmer 2's firmware with the light on, not long after the firmware update was completed the light went out and the device rebooted I don't remember this behavior happening before.

After reading about some people reporting thermal shutdown after the update, I freaked out and rolled back the firmware.

What were your experiences with updating the Shelly Dimmer 2?

It’s 100% normal for the dimmer 2 to switch the light off after a firmware update. The new firmware is great, update away :-)

Updated firmware yesterday and appears so far so good. No flicker!

However today I go into the app and says there is new firmware available which appears to be roll back to previous firmware version.

current fw              20220209-094557/v1.11.8
new fw available     20211109-131033/v1.11.7

Anyone else encountered this or know why the rollback?

Yeah, I'm seeing the same. Just ignoring it for now.

Hmmmm. Just saw the reason why they’ve rolled it back. A couple of very strange long blinks

Probably about $150 including call out, shouldn't take them long maybe 10-15 minutes. But they are charging between $50 and $150 an hour.

The bigger problem may be finding an electrician to do the work ATM. For one outlet, it may be more cost-effective to get a wifi smart plug with power metering.

Theres a beta firmware update for the dimmer2 just released, v1.11.9 to fix the flickering issues.
Can update by typing your devices ip address into a browser which opens the devices webUI and option to update can be seen under settings.
