Or just plug the Kindle to the pc via the USB cord - open up the Kindle- find the folder with all the books in - usually called something library - and then drag the file you want over to it.

Will work unless the file is protected by DRM - most self-published books aren't most trad published are.

With Kindle you just use Send To Kindle.
