I say go for the Kindle. I prefer the Kindle as menu layout is better. However saying that, I also have a Kobo Glo and find text easier to read overall. So to sum up either one is great. At this stage Kindle is no go for library books as it is. There are ways around but not strictly legal.
I dont know about the Sony ereader but you should be able to get a good deal on one as Sony are discontinuing them if they havent already.
You can use any epub on Sony anyway so doesnt matter if they dont make it anymore

Thanks Gilco2, i am pushing towards the kindle

kobo glo is on sale at noel leemings for $169. The only advantages for the kobo i can think of is the public library support.

Has anyone used this service is it worth it?

i would think with kindle having the majority of the market then not many people will be using public libraries, it seems a shame that libraries couldnt get support for kindles, because i know i would use it.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

I love my kindler paperwhite, it's a year or so old. I got the newer one recently for Mum, it's a bit faster but much the same really. Not sure if they're up to gen2 or gen3.
