Anyone decided against an Echo but still with an Amazon account that would buy one of them on my behalf and I'll pay them for it? I'd like a second one.

When are they going on sale? I am prime but no sign of it yet. Mine still says I well receive an email in the next few weeks (it has said that since December)

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Sorry. I want one for myself so can't offer you mine!

Im guessing I had an invite and it lapsed because it said it had expired when I just checked. Never seemed to get notified about it by their useless app on my phone.

Still no invite for me. Perhaps I dont buy enough, or they know I am not in the US despite having a US address as my primary one.

But I did see on the page that the $99 invites end on the 7th of april so if you dont have an invite requested, perhaps get one in now.

WeMo and Philips Hue products now work with Amazon Echo.

You can now use Echo to switch on the lamp before getting out of bed, turn on the fan or heater while reading in your favorite chair, or dim the lights from the couch to watch a movie—all without lifting a finger...or even raising your voice.

To get started, connect your WeMo and Hue devices to your home Wi-Fi and name them in their respective app. Then say, "Alexa, discover my appliances." After Echo's confirmation, you can control your devices by voice.

Things to try:

  • "Alexa, turn on the hallway light"
  • "Alexa, turn on the coffee maker"
  • "Alexa, dim the living room lights to 20%"
  • "Alexa, turn on the electric blanket"
  • "Alexa, turn on the outdoor decorations"
Supported products:

As always, the Amazon Echo team looks forward to your feedback via the Amazon Echo App and on social media (#AmazonEcho).

We LOVE it. I was to my knowledge the first person in NZ to have one, and it gets a lot of use in our household despite having some limitations due to not being in the USA.

We have it in the kitchen and use it to set timers (I'd pay $100 USD for that alone honestly), to play music a lot, (especially for the kids), add stuff to grocery and to do lists and occasionally to ask it questions.

If it wasn't limited to a zip code weather, time functions and a lot of the other stuff would be good.

It recently got IHeartRadio and Pandora integration and I expect airplay won't be far away and if that is the case, I'd consider it hands down the most useful thing I've owned in years.

I also have Amazon Prime, an Amazon Tablet (which integrates really nicely with) and multiple kindles.

I know a little about where they are heading with it, but can't share that right now, but owning one of these devices is going to blow peoples minds soon I think.

I only wish I could have one for the office and another for upstairs.

Can you pair it with your Amazon Fire TV and use it as a speaker?

Received a couple of Logitech UE Boom BT speakers and they sound great when connected to the AFTV. If one can connect the Amazon Echo I'd consider getting one...

High praise indeed! Look forward to seeing where they take it. An open API would be a critical factor for me personally, I would want to integrate it with my home automation system (openHAB) and use the voice recognition to set scenes etc.

Got my invite last week.

Don't know if it's worth it or not.

naked: if you don't want it, I'll take your one happily. Please don't let it go to waste. You can ship it to my youshop address and I'll reimburse you.
