got my system today.  interseting the panel is running android.

Ordered 2 additional motion sensors, that were somewhat configured (in the system but didnt work at all, had to manually delete these and readd them, might be hard for the average joe to do).

God my Yale lock working.  Really really really really annoying that its limited to 4 digits for pins.  my house used to be around 6 to 8 digits depending on person, so yeah, morepork, please increase this number.

camera seems good quality, but only tested the day time.

rules are very very basic, wouldnt really use them for any home automation stuff, except for setting "Alarm Home" to lock all locks.

The power adapters come up as "Lights" but you can make a rule for motion to turn a light on/off.

Tried pairing a fibaro eye motion sensor, it paired, but an unknown device, so cant be used for anything (worth a shot).

Hi All,

Apologies Morepork team has been on holiday!

Our latest offer reflects the way the market in Home Automation and Home Security is developing.  The catch - there is an Early Exit Fee associated with the offer - which we never had before.

It is good that there are more options available to New Zealanders - every customer need is unique and we hope that we offer a solution that can meet many of those needs.  Our service differs at it runs on the Spark 3G network with battery back up - many others run on wifi - so if power fails so does the service.

@reven - Active Automation discount - it does require you to be a Morepork customer and to login before it works. Active Automation verify Morepork custoemrs with us.

@reven  - 30 day/monthly subscription. Yes - correct we are monthly

@reven - Yale Lock - you can indeed use 6-8 digits - So you set this up under ‘Security’ and ‘Users’ in the web portal.

You can set 8 numbers for the lock, but only 4 for the panel. So if you put 8 in, the first 4 will apply to the panel, and all 8 to the lock

- see attached screenshot from the Morepork webportal

@Mattwnz - we do offer an outdoor camera - a new addition mid last year that has great day and night vision.

Regards

Ailsa

@reven - thanks for the feedback on panel.

Also - we are testing a Garage door opener just now and hopeful to bring on a Works with Morepork in the near future.

I took advantage of the current offer, ordered last Thursday, arrived Monday.  I had a few problems with the Image Sensor and the camera.  The Image Sensor problems were fixed remotely by Spark (I'd love to know what it was but never bothered to ask).  The camera took more effort and eventually a hard reset got it working.

I tried installing the door sensors but quickly found that if your door frames don't line up to the door 100% (and really how many do???) and your sensor parts don't align 100%, it will not recognize the CLOSED event.  I also had a door sensor (which is aligned correctly and was working 100%) come up as failed, just waiting back from Spark on that one.

It could have been slightly easier to get working, but I am used to the email support method as I already use BigPipe.

I have yet to decide on the location for the camera.  I will be getting a couple of motion sensors as well.

my camera I put in my garage, really theres not a lot of places I would want to install that (its pretty ugly and requires power).  a power over ethernet camera would be better IMO, well as an option at least.  but the camera quality is pretty good.

havent decided if ill go the ring.com route for external cameras or the morepork route yet.  ring.com looks a lot nicer... they are very expensive cameras considering you can buy IP cameras from dx.com etc for about nzd$50 shipped.

@reven I'm looking at using POE injectors with 12v / 1a splitters, not as neat as pure POE but given morepork don't have any, and I can't find a reasonable supply of the official alarm.com POE internal cameras this would be a reasonable solution as I can mount in to the corner of the room attached to the ceiling out of the way.

@moreporknewzealand are you looking at any POE hardware for supply as the extras you have are not?

I'm not sure what rule I've got set up, but I can't seem to find the culprit.  Effectively, the motion image sensor is telling us that someone has activated it when ever someone goes past it (with a 30 min cooldown).  I've only got the alarm defaults activated and the alarm isn't on!  Anyone have any thoughts?

Edit: So the system is showing the image sensor as being activated and doesn't change, is this what it is supposed to do?

you can turn voice prompts on and off per sensor.  so log in as admin, then go to the "Sensors" button and click "view" (or "edit" cant remember what the button is called), and then turn off voice prompts.

So compared to the swan start up kit except price what is the better system? I want an alarm if broken into while sleeping and of course while away out of 10 how does this rate? Sorry for all the questions we have had a lot of burglaries this week on the area including home invasions: (

So far so good.  Looked at the Swann system but it relied on paying quite a bit of money for the additional services plus there was no way of linking it to a professionally monitored plan.  Video camera is good quality (IMHO), image sensor works better than just old school motion... I like the mobile app approach and geo-fencing too.  I also like the way you can add more devices... Mostly I like the fact that it is mainly quite portable; i.e. even if you wire in the main panel, it can be moved with you along with all the sensors and cameras.

Does the alarm.com app have any enhancements over the morepork branded app?

not sure, think it has a few more features, but since when you login to the webportal via morepork, you are taken to alarm.com, I just use the alarm.com app.  they will likely release a new version of that app then morepork would have to update to match that, so might be a few versions behind.  i dont even have the morepork app installed now.  when you log in to the alarm.com app it is rebranded as morepork.
