When I last tried for .local stuff to work on windows you either need itunes (yuck) or the bonjour printer software installed. That adds the mdns support to windows that it needs for it.

Good stuff! Along with a few others at work I've recently started playing around with Home Assistant on a Pi and have an Aeon z stick, sensor, nano dimmer and socket going. Also planning to use the ESP8266 as a multi sensor and have a few from Ali. Good to hear they are working well. May stick with the z wave Aeon for mains. Also hope to get my D link web cameras connected and have automations/switches controlled by IR from my remotes. Would also like to add voice control and will probably go with Google rather than Amazon for better chromecast control
