@russelo (or anyone else) 2 questions :

1) I pulled my old RC car out, and found a battery which has 6 x 4200 Mah 1.2v batteries added together in a "pack". I am unsure it's capacity so I can charge it properly using my Imax b6. It's NiMH by the looks. Just wondering what settings to charge it at?

2) Your 2 chargers above are probably a little spendy, wondering if, since I can charge each battery in 20 minutes with one of these, I get a single port charger?

1. Sorry, I don't have any NiMH packs for RC anymore.  Traxxas came with these batteries when I bought it but they died after 2 years or so.

2. That's fine.  But that will double your charging time.  One thing I forgot to mention, you need a grunty power supply for these chargers.  I'm using a DELL server power supply on mine.

Is it possible to get a single port charger that does 20 minute charges per battery? Can you recommend one?

I didn't buy those Lipos from TM as they were not compatible with my unit.

I'm going to get some 3S 8000Mah ones which are the same brand as the ones I got already and fit in the existing mount which is really cool.

If you want the 8000mAh battery charged in 20minutes, you'd need a 24A charger or bigger (assuming your battery can handle 3C charging).

The charger I linked to above has a single port model but it maxxes out at 20A, so it can't fully charge your battery in 20mins.

8000mAh is big.  On a brushless ERevo, 5000mAh brand new battery last me around 1 to 1.5 hours non stop hard bashing.

On a Summit with a brushed motor, 7500mAh batteries lasts for ages.  I get tired playing before I run the battery out.

Wow, so something is up then, because I am getting around 15 minutes play time with my slash using 6500Mah 2C.

20 minutes is a target, I am ok with longer, even 40 minutes would cut my total charging time in half.

Note that ERevo and Summit are using dual pack in series.

2x 3S 5000mAh for ERevo

2x 2S 7500mAh for Summit

I haven't owned a Slash so don't know how hungry the motor is.

I use a sky rc D100 charger for racing.
Its a dual charger and will charge any battery type.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE

especially for those bashers.
ALWAYS charge and store your batteries in a fire proof lipo bag or metal box! Your house insurance is void if you don't.
ALWAYS give your batteries a storage charge when your done playing... This will put your battery in a storage voltage. Leaving a lipo fully charged for long periods of time will make it puff and destroy it.

Man getting decent dual output chargers is a right PITA in NZ. Turnigy is sold in 1 place and that place doesn't respond to emails or phone calls. Most other places are sold out of a variety of different brands.

Stock coming of the D2 200W soon hopefully, but I really would have liked something that did 15a per channel!

iCharger have them, but they are nearly $600 once you buy an external PSU for it!

So I have a TB-01 Tamiya I bought second hand. I have pulled it out for my son to play with it, but we are having some issues with it. Steering sometimes goes a bit crazy and won't respond to the remote, so occasionally it will just start turning and can't be stopped until it hits something. Other times it can be corrected with some attempts to sharp turn in the other direction. It has a slight left bias too, which means I need to keep adjusting to get a straightish line.

Also, sometimes we can't put it into reverse. Seems hit and miss.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a faulty servo or controller.  What sort of radio gear are you using?  Is it old stuff?

I'd have to have a look. Whatever it came with, but not everything is stock :)

I might post a picture. It's not pretty! :)

Has anyone here dealt with the hobby warehouse NZ? I have been trying to contact them for a couple of weeks with no response. I'd like to buy their turnigy charger, but reluctant without knowing someone is actually there!

Sky rc D100 will do 10 amps per channel if powered from an external 12 v source.... Rig up an old atx power supply to it.
