I think my problem with the Aeotec Nano is similar as I haven't excluded it from the Raspberry Pi with Aeotec USB stick yet. I have re-purposed the Pi for RetroPie.

My Aeotec Smartswitch 6 is working from about 10m from the ST Hub.  The Multi Senor is about the same distance about a meter away from the switch. My Nano dimmer that I can't connect is in the room below those two.

The dimmer is flickery with my downlights so I'll probably go Aeotec Dual switch if/when I but some more.

I assume the switch is used to action/trigger the Aeotec rather than cut the power to it. Is that right?   The handler I was going to use for the dimmer is on github under:

....Active Automation told me that Aeotec have a controller coming out at the end of the year.  Which isn't too far away!

My Vera 3 was bricked recently and I just couldn't be bothered trying to fix it "again", especially when the solution appeared to involve Telnet and a physical cabled connection. But the good thing was that I was able to exclude the devices from the old system using the ST Hub (I think - either that or I was able to use the exclude function on my old Minimote).

I might try some experiments to see how far I can move the hub away from my old Aeotec switch before it drops reliability.

Thanks for the tips on the handler.

Excluding the Nano dimmer from the Aeotec usb stick did the trick. (Hold usb stick button for 2 sec then action button on dimmer)
Then it paired quickly with a double click on the Nano action button. Magic!

I got the Hubitat instead of waiting around for SmartThings a while ago, couldnt be happier, works with all my NZ-ZWave and Zigbee devices, supposedly better than Smartthings as its designed to keep things inhouse instead of cloud managed, so more secure and keeps working if your internet dies

on this topic I am getting a ST3 hub and the first thing will be to smart lighting in the bedroom, so i can use alexa or app to turn the lights off.

The bedroom lighting is on 2 circuits currently with a 2 gang switch.

My question is -

Am i better to install a smart module behind the physical switch, or replace the 2 gang with a smart switch?

I have just acquired a SmartThings Hub from Noel Leemings.

Trying to pair it with some Fibaro in wall Z-Wave switches, but it just does not detect anything.

Followed the instructions from Fibaro (three rapid switches on and off) of the switch.

Have connected it to some Hue bulbs with no problem.

Samsung website says they don't support any Z-Wave products in NZ, but I see others here have connected successfully.

Can anybody help me with this issue?

Is the z wave device from NZ?
NZ and Aust are the same frequency but the rest of the world has different frequencies.
I have only connected Aeotec devices. They connected no problem. I did also add the device controllers to the Samsung ST IDE which added some functionality.
I have a dimmer, 2x multi sensors, plug

Yes, the Z-wave device is NZ standard. I was wondering if the SmartThings device was using a different standard?

But just no response at all when trying to detect the switches. Anyone out there that has used the Fibaro switches and can confirm?

Don't have any Fibaro switches, but I did initially have difficulty connecting my Aeotec switches. I discovered that I first needed to remove them from my old Vera system. The Vera was bricked by then (couldn't be bothered faffing about with it any more so hence the SmartThings Hub), but I found some other way to remove them - I think maybe using the physical button on the switch - just look at your Fibaro user manual to see how to do this.

Good point. Yes I had to remove them from my Home Assistant zwave usb stick.
I think I did a hardware reset on them

Hi All,

I'm new here and have just started down the smart home route using "smartthings" mostly because I could get the items from my local Noel Leemings only to find out this week that Noel leemings have droped the smartthings line! anybody know who else stocks smarthings in NZ at all? or where I can buy online?

Thanks for any help :)

Oh that's disappointing but may explain some things. Saw them on display at NL just the other weekend too, but I'm picking they didn't sell very well.

Appears Spark have them for sale here but I bought one directly from the Samsung NZ website recently, albeit through an external partners program that gave me about a 40% discount.

I had to register for a stock alert first as it showed out of stock then (and now), but I kept checking and as soon as it showed available to order I put an order in.
