Interesting that 1-day had Nest Hub Max units for an amazing price of $220 today (https://www.1-day.co.nz/products/google-nest-hub-charcoal) - not surprised to see they've sold out. I paid $350 only a couple of months ago, so a bit annoyed!

I was annoyed when I missed that by a few minutes, but less annoyed when I found out that they sent an apology to purchasers because it was actually the standard nest hub rather than the hub max. 1-day then said buyers could continue with their $220 purchase, which is a bit excessive as I think that's greater than the standard hub RRP.

Ah, not a bargain at all then - I don’t feel ripped off at all now!

NL did something similar with mine, sending me a Hub instead of the Max. It had the wrong barcode sticker on it (ie one for the Max), which if a widespread issue could have led to TWG thinking they had lots of these on-hand so a good idea to get rid of excess stock...

Will the bluetooth be solid on these ones? Fed up with it constantly dropping on my minis and homes after several minutes.

They might have had a US-based account for the giveaway - the link to the YouTube Google mini promo check is here: https://home.google.com/promotions?utm_campaign=GS104695

Yes I do have a US based Youtube account and the device was sent to a rel in the US where I can pick it up one day. But I already have two Google Homes, 2 Google Home Minis and two Lenovo Smart Displays in the house and I really don't need another device.

Thought I'd see if NZ is a language option now - still not. Does anyone know if officially launched should equate to in the local language or should we separate that notion?

Probably won’t be until Google Assistant gets updated.

As I said previously, you may need to raise a ticket to get someone off their elbow at Mountain View to flick the activation switch.

Hmm - So got my 2 for 1 deal today from JB HiFi.

Sound quality is surprisingly good for such a small speaker. I only have spotify free - so you cant ask for too much specifically.

Not having NZ as a country means you cant set up a local source for news - which is somewhat annoying - I dont really want BBC news giving me UK football news.

EDIT: Scrub the above - https://www.rnz.co.nz/listen/google

Thanks Radio NZ

Yes up till now if I asked Hey Google Tell Me About My Day, I would get my diary, weather etc and the Reuters US news which wasn't particularly relevant. Then today out of interest I went into the Google Home app and found RNZ as a news source. So I added it and now I get this

and after the weather etc. it plays the RNZ headlines - nice!

Listening to Brian FM in Ashburton right now with a bottle of wine and a very nice blue cheese via the Google nest mini. It's pretty cool really. :-)

You mean for Bluetooth headphones and so on connected to these devices?

I don’t see the option for NZ as a news source

Also don't see a local news source, but it could just be that the list seems to be super super long with no search function, can fling to scroll and it just keeps going and going.

It does have trouble if you ask it to play "RNZ News" or "Radio New Zeland News" - can't find, doesn't understand. But once you have set it as your news source, just saying "play news" works just fine.

Just had a lengthly online chat with a Google rep, who has escalated the language issue. Also encouraged everyone do a "Hey Google / Submit Feedback / You need to support English New Zealand for the Nest Mini"
