@neb I'm not sure what you are trying to do?

If you want to write software to interface with the alarm I recommend the different firmware I mentioned above. I had Node Red interacting with the alarm - getting zone status, arming and disarming, controlling relay etc. If I recall, the CSV-IP protocol is somewhat dated..

Just send the alarm events to a monitoring app that I can use for things like home automation. For example all the areas around the stairwell have movement sensors so I wanted to use the info from those to automatically turn on the stairwell lights at night when required.

You mentioned the alternative firmware but also that it "removes any control from their app and only enables local control" which isn't terribly useful if I then lose the ability to use the app. Are there any docs on what it does?

If you are using home automation (home assistant? openhab?) then you would use your app/system to control the alarm? I found their app very basic (and with unknown security), and integrated my alarm into home assistant which meant it was with the rest of the control for my house. I don't think the docs are public but arrowhead were helpful when I spoke to them.

No, the other way around, I want to get events from the alarm and feed them to other things. For example if I get a motion trigger in the downstairs hallway followed by one in the stairwell I want to turn the stairwell lights on in sequence where lights under the risers light up one after the other upwards or downwards depending on which direction someone is going. You can do the same with fancy controllers and motion sensors on the stairs, but since the alarm data will let me do the same thing without either of those I'd like to use that.

That's just one example, I'm sure I'll come up with other stuff once that one's sorted out.

I understand what you want to do, and I do similar. But what I don't follow is the controller in your plan? Sensor data from the alarm - yep. Stairwell lights - how are they controlled? Home automation controller - what?

You don't need additional sensors, but you do need control of the lights, and something to link the two. That would often be home assistant or openhab, among others. If you are trying to wire your lights directly into your alarm I've got the wrong end of the stick...and good luck and be careful!

An Arduino ASL shield and a Nano to drive the light sequence.

The panel is the brains of the alarm and each KP adress can do diff things, it's how you program them that they work how you want them too,

Not sure what csv-IP or ls-30 are, poll heart beat, it should disappear when you have the right format

So is the alarm pirs acting as motion detectors for your lights?
