The only thing I will need to learn to put up with is the 'special offer' ads, but if they annoy me that much I can always pay the extra to get them removed.

I actually dont mind them. Its only when the unit is turned off that they show.. never while reading u nless that very small bar at the bottom worries you-- i simply dont notic eit, the words of the books take over...

, but I don't get to play. Got it delivered to my boyfriend at work since I am going to be away next wk (plus it is his xmas present anyway). Will be interested to see what its like compared to the kindle 3 that I have

Shipito is a parcel forwarder - receives parcels in the US and forwards to customers overseas. People have used it quite a few times for electronics items here on Geekzone.

Sounds fine then, it was quite a saving getting the special offers instead of the regular one. My Kindle Touch arrived yesterday so that made my complete delivery time 6 days, or just 4 working days! Including 2 delivery legs, one within USA and the other USA to NZ.

Won't get to play with it till Christmas day but looking forward to the prospect and good to have it here.

yep, my brother's one just arrived, that was 6 days total as well. And that almost at Xmas. comgateway.com rocks!

Not sure thats correct- Ive been play with the 3G (incl experimental browser-- which is slow BTW!) and no charges on my Amazon credit card. How could charge me without me specifically agreeing to it anyway? so far its FREE

They do charge for the service, but not how you might think.

The way it works is that books purchased from outside of the US cost more - like a buck or two - for all Kindle users (not just the 3G ones), which offsets the cost of the 3G users.

The only way around it is to have a US account but be warned, if you have one and only purchase books while in New Zealand (i.e. from an NZ IP address), they'll catch on and start asking you questions.

Not true - its only the extra US$2 for Kindle book outside the "KIndle countries" which AFAIK are ca, australia, NZ, UK, Germany, Lux, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands

You were right, hardly notice the special offers at all, when it's off seems just like a screen saver so don't notice it, well worth the cheaper price. Have you got yours in a case? If so where did you get it from? Looked at some generic ones on eBay etc but all seem pretty similar. Thought about the lighted amazon official case but a bit pricey really when you consider the cost of the kindle itself.

The one thing that does bug me sometimes is the off button on the bottom, maybe once a day while I am holding the kindle with my finger across the bottom to support it, accidentally turn it off. I'm sure I will get used to the power button location in time though. Apart from that i'm loving it, well worth the amount I paid.

I see that you attempted to purchase "XXXXXXXXXXXX" while in a different country than the United States listed on your Amazon account. Certain Kindle titles are not available everywhere.

If you have moved to a different country, you can easily update your country for your Amazon account at www.Amazon.com/manageyourkindle

So book prices may in fact be the same, but the content is definitely different between here and in the US.
