NZ locations - Great! - at least the weather is a bit more local (not as good as Big sky however). Its Maori Pronunciation needs a bit of work though. Local knowledge is also a bit limited - apparently, my local Macca's is 33Km away, and the closest Petrol Station is a toss up between around the corner and 50Kms. But promising signs that NZ will get more of Amazons services when they open in Australia.

Probably more than Microsoft's Cortana in all these years...

Kids think it's hilarious telling Alexa to add cocaine to the shopping list!

You can change this in the Alexa app.

Seems that they just use the postcode for weather, so works address in mt eden gets called epsom, and home in beach haven gets called chatswood.

I'm still unclear how to get the newest APK. I can find the July 27 version easily enough but it's been said that I need an August one?

I installed Amazon Underground and looked for the app but nothing there seems appropriate (I don't have a FireTV)

Cheers - N

[edit: Hmm, hang on, I can see a version on the google play site in my desktop browser I can't see on the phone... I wonder...]

[edit2: Nope, "This app is incompatible with all of your devices"]

I got the Alexa App from the Amazon AppStore. Or on the Amazon website here.

Clearly I'm still doing something wrong... On the Amazon website (on the link you provided) I get this...

"We're sorry - You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions."

It's available for Amazon US accounts and you should be using a VPN if accesing via the website. The Amazon AppStore on mobile doesn't require a VPN.

Bother. Absolutely does not work for me. Amazon underground installed on Note 4, search for Alexa brings up all the hardware, search for "Alexa app in apps and games" brings up some rubbish 3rd party only apps.

Guess it wasn't meant to be...

I can set time and location through the web interface ok, and it knows where I am "Alexa, where am I" gives the right location, but it doesn't give me local weather unless I specify the city - and it certainly used to.

Cheers - N

I have an US Amazon Prime account and after reading this part of the thread went to the app and tried entering NZ addresses. While it doesn't do pre-population like when you enter a US address, it allowed me to enter my NZ address fine.  Nice.

I asked where my nearest BK was and it told me the one on Lambton Quay when I thought the nearest would be the one in Johnsonville. A quick check with Google maps revealed that the J'Ville one is 6km away while the LQ one is 6.3km so that seems reasonable.

Glad not to have to say Alexa what is the weather in Wellington, NZ now and just say what is the weather. But its pronunciation for Khandallah is a bit strange.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.
