Just noticed on the Element14 website you can no longer order a Raspberry Pi if your not a businesses in NZ. It just tells you to go to TradeMe.

Not sure what the reason for the move is but looks like RS may now be the only option for most.

I think it is more a case opening an account with them.  You may then get a follow-up phone call and a request to complete a survey and confirmation that you can be included on their email list,  but that is about as far it goes.

I am trying to work out how RS can quote a 3 week lead time on delivery while Element 14 quote as 1 week lead time.

Both companies are pissing me off with this.

I'd go on a Vegan diet but the delivery time from Vega is too long.

Giving the wording on the page and the fact if you chose Australia it will let you order. I am guessing that it is not just because they want you to get an account

The only thing i can think off is shipping was killing them given the margins are so low. That being said they are now doing free shipping on all orders for this month and i have been sent overnight $1 worth of resistors with free shipping deal in the past.

I was just re4ading the Raspberry Pi forums and saw a recommendation from JamesH, one of the devs, about a company called NewIT. I send them an enquiry through their website and got the following back:

Yes we ship all over the world, just add what you need to the cart and you can get a shipping price.

And yes we do have the Raspberry Pi?s in stock, Made in the UK boards

I then asked them about shipping and got the following response:

To New Zealand? 1 raspberry Pi would be ?39.58 including shipping, and with
Royal Mail takes about 7 days.
We also offer TNT as a courier service, all shipping prices are weight
based, so worth playing about to get the most for the shipping charge.

That cost is around $75-$80

Just thought I would mention this in case Element 14 in the West Island decide not to ship to NZ.

I'd go on a Vegan diet but the delivery time from Vega is too long.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Just tried doing an order through E14's West Island website and found you cannot change the destination country in the delivery details
