Watch out for the web interface having an iframe linking to some malware site. The last ones I got have that "feature" in the firmware. Its ok because the AV blocks it but I hate to think what would happen if it didnt, and I dont know what effect adding the cameras IP address to trusted sites so the active-x runs would have on the linked malware in the iframe if at all.

My last 2 cameras are sitting on a shelf till the vendor either gets me malware free firmware or I will be doing a complaint for a refund on aliexpress.

davidcole: I use a Marley drainage end cap (100mm) to mount them as with a 40mm screw, it will go through camera, end cap and nicely into the roof space with enough room for the camera cable and Poe splitter to exist in the end cap....meaning all I have to drill into the roof/wall is the 3 screws and a hole for cat5.

Any chance of a picture? I'm trying to piece it together in my head but it's not making sense...thanks

Bunnings and mitre 10 sites are crap. End cap looks like this https://www.masters.com.au/product/100186922/threaded-cap-dwv-150 - but the push on variant - which doesn't have those ridges onthe top either. Camera is mounted on the top with 40mm screws which hold the camera to the cap, and the cap to the roof. I'll take a picture of the camera on one of them when I get home.

I realise this solution is horribly non-geeky and will probably get be banned from the board, but what about putting a $2 padlock on the back of the letterbox to prevent it from being opened?

I suspect that the intersection of people who know how to pick locks and people who feel the need to steal mail from letterboxes is going to be an empty set.

Because the metal of most letterbox flaps will bend easily giving access to the mail without opening the lock.
