Well I have been using the "CatFree - Automatic Cat Repeller" from Easytek in Christchurch for the last 10 days. (Cost $89.70 with free shipping at present.)

It has been 100% effective so far for the cats visiting our place that venture near it.

It so far is so effective that I have ordered another one to protect another area.

It has no effect on birds or hedgehogs.

I have a camera covering the area around it, so can see the effectiveness.

Boy does a cat move when it is triggered. :-)

Ah, that's the one I got. It is hard fro me to know whether it is effective as the cat crapping by our clothesline only did it spasmodically. It detects us out at the clothesline as you can hear it clicking!

So, thanks for the camera evidence report. That is encouraging.

Stick the camera evidence up so we can see it, as anyone putting up with neighbours cat's crap could do with a laugh!

Unfortunately the cat wasn't "in shot" long enough.

Still 100% effective, as evidenced by leftover whiskas for the hedgehogs every day since getting it.

Now have a 2nd unit to protect another area.

I think I would want to hack it with a light sensor to only operate after dark. We keep our cat inside and that's when the neighbour's POS cat shows up.

Is it different cats or the same one? One of the Youtube cat projects seemed to show that the cats were stupid enough to keep getting caught out by the device.

We wanted to stop the outside security light being triggered by cats. Altering the sensitivity would stop the light coming on for us at the top of the drive. Putting a gate on their patrol route seemed better than just spraying them each time they went past after the light had already come on.

At least 3 different ones were here the night before.

None see in the area of the first CAT-Free since the one which somersaulted out of camera range :-)

So it is definitely effective for the ones around here so far.

Just an update:

Since putting in the Cat-Free devices, NO cats seen.

(Even some Whiskas left over each morning from feeding the hedgehogs.)

Apart from the one the first night which somersaulted away when it was triggered.

Second unit protecting a different area, and no cats seen there either since putting it in.

(They used to sit in the maple tree and watch my 2400l pond. (Grill on top, so they couldn't get the fish anyway)

Simple and has worked for us.
Work out where the cat is entering your property.
Now be prepared to spend $2.30 per length of carpet tack track!
We have had no cats come onto our property since put a couple of these down on their entry areas.

Update. (Have the Easytek $89 audio one). Have had another lot of crap on lawn right in front of device so not totally effective.
