I haven't had OK Google voice recognition working on my phone for ages. It just suddenly sprung into life when I said something about search in conversation. Maybe NZ English is now supported?

gzt:
huckster: Will the bluetooth be solid on these ones? Fed up with it constantly dropping on my minis and homes after several minutes.

You mean for Bluetooth headphones and so on connected to these devices?

Here's what happens.

I subscribe and download podcasts - some are only available for a week so cannot be streamed/cast after that point - on my phone. If I connect my phone to the speaker via Bluetooth, it will play - sometimes for 20 minutes sometimes for 2 - and just disconnect. It's not the phone side as I have experienced this with different makes/models. It happens on my Home and my Minis.

It's a known fault on the Google side, but they don't appear to be doing much about it.

If anyone can try and bluetooth play something to the new device for 30+ minutes, would be intrigued but also bloody annoyed :-)

Does anyone know if the "Digital Wellbeing" features for Google Home will finally be supported in NZ?

I'm talking about "Downtime" and "Filter". (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9141219?hl=en&ref_topic=9141096)

Use case:

- I would love to be able to disable Youtube on my Google Nest Hub

- I would consider having a Google Nest Mini in the kids bedroom if I knew I could completely disable them at bedtime.

Thoughts?

Kind of ironic. I have just updated Google Assistant on my iPad and it is showing NZ English as the language. Android phone (Samsung S10) nope.

There is a 2 for 1 deal today at the Warehouse for the nest mini.

Yes, picked up two at the Warehouse yesterday. Bluetooth to inhouse speaker system was a bit scratchy and dropped out once but may have been the positioning of the unit.  Bunnings also have them $44 each

Which is about $1 cheaper than the two for one offer that expires in the next day or so.
Wonder if Bunnings going to bump the price up after the two for one finishes?

I find when I use these on Google Play or Youtube music, I get dropouts. But when I use them on Spotify they play perfectly, on highest quality.

Does the new mini play spotify in high quality? The old one played some low bitrate stream that was artifact riddled from spotify, so I swapped the bathroom google home out for an echo dot that doesnt play low bitrate spotify.

But does the nest mini actually get that stream and play it?

Does it have a New Zealand voice available if you choose that option, or does it just use the Aussie one?

Under “choose language to speak to Google Assistant” it shows English (New Zealand). But under that it says “These languages won’t work on some of your devices”

Still doesn’t have an NZ English option available for devices (currently set to “English (Australia)”).
