I recently added a Dot to go along with my previous Prime day Echo purchase , on setting up the area code . the Echo gives me the weather in Balmoral while the Dot gives me weather in Roskill, and i have the same area code set in both
I would like to connect my outside security camera which is a wifi ip unit (V380 from memory) to be able to view on my echo show. I understand it is possible with Dlink and Ezviz. Anyone done it with a generic unit like the v380 ? Is there a skill to create a link out there

Well I've had my Echo Show a week so far and we really like it. It's tied to our ring door bell pro and our security cameras, having music lyrics show on the screen is excellent, the touch screen is responsive, and it's built to typically Amazon high standards. It's a welcome addition in our House.
My Spot arrives just after xmas it would seem.
All I want now is a way to have it show the weather and local news and I'm set.

I have a bunch of Dots in the house and was able to set a NZ locale using the app. It used to say Khandallah but now says Ngauranga and I am not sure why. Picked up a couple more (love the intercom facility) and could not set NZ in the app so resorted to the PUT back and entered my postal code (6035). Now the new says I am in Churton Park!
Close enough I guess for weather.

Can you view the security cams on the screen? If so which brand or type have you got?

...I've had my Echo Show a week so far...
After getting a Echo Dot at the end of October and being impressed with the ease of operation, I decided on a bigger model, but couldn't decide on the Echo Plus or the Echo Show... So, I choose the Echo Plus as I could order it straight away... And while the Echo Plus does what it says, I didn't realise what the addition of a screen would do...
Now trying to justify to myself (that is, the wife!) the purchase of another Echo product!

Ok got a couple of early questions.
1. My dimmer system works for 8 lights in one room, Im not replacing the bulbs, I saw switches, can I replace the dimmer switch and dimmer?
2. If prime TV is not tecnically allowed in NZ how does this all work, do we still have to go around with a DNS and fake address etc to get Amazon services? Fire TV, is there anything else I need to be aware of. Its as good as google chrome but includes more?
Ok, Ill keep reading the amazon pages for now, there is a lot of cool stuff to take in :-)
Is there a preferred way to play music, that doesn't require the use of a VPN, and works for NZ ?
I have been using IHeartRadio, but the integration into Alexa is not that flash - Alexa started refusing to play music as it "Was not available in your area", though I could use the Amazon Alexa app to push music to Alexa.
It seems that Spotify, SiriusXM, and Amazon Music are the preferred music skills.
I'd rather not pay 9.99 per month, just to listen to background music - I don't mind putting up with occasional adverts.

All sorted, the purchase of a Kindle for my wife as smoothed the way for my Echo Show. It should arrive just after New year.
