Benoire:
The system cannot work without alarm.com access
Well, you can still arm/disarm using the panel, and the alarm would still go off.
But yes the cloud access feature won't work anymore.
That's true, but I guess the whole purpose of a smart alarm is the image capture and storage, notifications, remote arming etc...
I've bought the Starter Pack and found it seems to work really well.
Definitely watch the sensor install video BEFORE installing the sensors.
I have 3 sensors all working fine, renamed to suit my needs. The image sensor is also working fine.
I have a problem with the video camera as it seems to require being connected by ethernet, but my Internet access point is a 4G MF-910 unit, recommended by the guy in the Spark store, and it doesn't have an ethernet port......so not sure how I'm ever going to get the video camera configured. Anyone been able to do that?
I have to set it up via WiFi...... Hmm.

are the sensors far away from the panel? the zwave network has issues with long distances if there are no repeaters in between (power points, or anything that is always on), where the signal will get lost.
I havent had any issues with sensors with my system, I am using 2 yale deadlocks and 3 power point adapters aswell.
2 sensors are line of sight and about 5m away - the third is about 9m away through a thin internal door. They just will not work in my House and Spark say they've not experienced this issue before, (Lie!).
Hi like you I have an extended z-wave network and a Philips hue system, and haven't had the same issues you are with the door/window sensors with my Morepork, the security sensors are on a different RF frequency than z-wave.
Is this issue occurring on all your door/window sensors, or only specific ones? If only specific ones, can you try moving them to a location that has a working door/window sensor, and see if they exhibit the same fault?
Good call - I'll give it a try tonight - thanks!
Benoire: Simplest way would be to connect laptop or fixed computer via wireless and then plug the camera in to the ethernet port of the computer, finally share the Internet to the port and you'll be able to configure the camera
Thanks very much!
I wasn't sure that would work, but it did and the video camera is working perfectly.

Just got off yet another call with Spark about this - apparently the sensors may not work on aluminium window/door joinery! So that's probably about 50% of NZ that can't use Morepork. Pointed out to them that if this is pointed out on their website, I'm buggered if I saw it when I signed up.
Thats 3 weeks of my life I won't get back - Cheers for that Spark!
(Anyone want to buy a Starter pack going cheap?)

Be aware Morepork won't activate second hand control panels on their service.

Nah - I was thinking more about the sensors/camera/motion detector being useful to someone else.

Performance of ALL wireless sensors regardless of brand can be affected if used on materials that impede wireless signals,
i.e. metal/steel/aluminum etc...

mine are working fine on my aluminum windows/doors. so not 50% of windows in NZ, if they said "may not work", meaning some might cause issues, not all.
Hi all,
Just to let you know that we announced the launch of a Video Doorbell - Skybell(R) HD Edition into the Morepork family yesterday, super easy to install via the Morepork app. Heaps more technical info here:
To Buy - www.morepork.nz/add-ons
Team Morepork
https://morepork.nz https://facebook.com/morepork https://twitter.com/morepork
you should partner with ring, their bell is easier to install, and has its own battery. but they have their own subscription cloud offering.
Hi
What is the easiest way to recess the door/window sensors? I'm tired of having them visible and would like to mount them internally. I've noticed on some other z-wave sensors that they do actually include brackets for mounting; any thoughts on how to achieve this using NZ stores such as Mitre10 etc.?
Cheers
Chris
How do you mean recess the devices. Into woodwork or what?
