Mine turned up and is working well! - The only downside is we have older woollen carpets and the carpet fluff fills up the dustbin pretty quickly. Bought a new vacuum cleaner, now need new carpet.

my old roomba 970 with brand new nylon carpet would get full of fluff too, had to empty it every 2nd run.  so dont think its the age of the carpet, just carpet in general.

After its done a couple of passes it should be fine as its only doing maintenance cleaning

But yes have it auto empty while it recharges itself would be good...

They're on deals again - $233.11: https://www.geekbuying.com/item/Xiaomi-Mi-Robot-Vacuum-Cleaner-Robot---White-386625.html

Personally not buying one though :)

Got ours taken back for us by a friend and received it yesterday. First impressions are really positive, dust bin was full after 1 clean and we have just put in new carpet in the house! Its pretty quick to do the whole house as well around 1 hour to do 90 square metres.

Great news is that the app and voice is now available in english so its very easy to use now.

Would definitely recommend getting this, its really quite handy. We've already named ours Mi Mi :)

For those who run Home Assistant, there is a plugin for this vacuum cleaner available allowing you to integrate it into your setup. Bit of faff to initially get the key, but seems to work well after that. Not sure there's any real point to it, but being able to start and stop your robot servant with voice commands is pretty cool :)

So tempted but I doubt it has enough smarts to avoid getting screwed up with clothes and cables on the floor. Perhaps once I am out of the tiny bedroom when the big one is fixed up I will consider one. Even if to just clean the cat hair up from under the bed that seems to accumulate.

New model is very similar, biggest change is the mopping which isn't that useful. The new version is a lot more expensive too so I think for now still better to get Gen 1

Geekbuying has this on sale again for US$229 (no coupon needed). Unfortunately there is still no shipping option cheaper than $US70, so it works out to about NZ$430 landed.

ashtonaut: Power supply tip: It comes with a Chinese plug, but this is a perfect replacement:

https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/CABDNX9009/DYNAMIX-2M-Figure-8-Power-Cord---2-pin-plug-to-fig

App setup tips:
- the app is called Mi Home (iOS and Android). Search for “Xiaomi” in the App Store, it’s a green icon and the name is in Chinese characters (the app is in English though)
- set the app region to mainland China so you can add the vacuum and update the firmware
- install the English language pack so the vac speaks to you in English, not Chinese

this saved me.  i couldnt figure out how to change it to english.  I went to "USA (Recommended)" for the region.
