Received my RM Mini 3 last week, ordered from Banggood. Despite saying they sell the English version they sent me the Chinese one so the box and manual were in Chinese.. fumbled my way through it anyway. Had to create a new SSID because I have special characters in the password which the RM Mini 3 can't support

Pretty underwhelmed with the controls for the Panasonic heatpump, it'd be nice to control more than just heat/auto/cool/fan speed/temp like louver position and power/quiet mode

Glad it was only $20

This is absolutely uncanny...

- Ditto, got my RM Mini3 today, ordered from Banggood

- Ditto, also got the CHinese one with box and manual in Chinese

- Ditto, fumbled through although not 100% sure I got it working right

- Ditto, had issues with the networking support (2.4 only)

- Ditto, I have a Panasonic heatpump (but don't actually have it working yet with RM3)

- Ditto, glad it was only $20.

Now that I have watched GoT maybe I'll give it another go.

I feel your pain, yeah the new SSID also had to be 2.4ghz only

The other thing is that if you use the apps timer to turn on/off the heat pump with whatever settings e.g. 30 degrees full fan, those settings aren't reflected in the apps "remote" - it'll have whatever the last settings you used present

There is another android app for the broadlink which I find better, but a bit of a "beta". Some people have found it "flakey" but I've had no issues.

That's the one I am using... It's what the QR on the box pointed to.

I have mine now working and controlling the TV, but it appears the Panasonic Heatpump is not supported.

My Fujitsu ones work ok on it but lack the powerful button that kicks up up to max fan and compressor for a while. Useful when 10 mins from home and want to get it warm/cool before home.

I've connected to Alexa for the new app and it will only turn the TV off and on. And only some of the time. No joy with Aircon control and Alexa thru the new app. And as it only turns the tv on and doesn't press the smart menu and open YouTube it's a bit useless even when it does manage to turn it on.

Ditto... I moved the rm3 closer and got it to work, but a total roadblock with the Alexa integration. I read the reviews and everyone comments that the Alexa integration only works with TVs/STB. Many people complaining specifically that Aircon doesn't even get detected.

steve98: an afternoon of tinkering and I now have my Panasonic heat pumps being controlled via Siri and the Apple Home app, as well as a WeMo switch which controls some outdoor lighting. Works extremely well, best US$13 I've ever spent.

I've done this too, plus a whole bunch of other stuff using Homebridge on our iPhones, its a really nice interface and all the broad link stuff (except for the A1 Sensor) works well. Their API is pretty clear and has enabled a lot of third party Homebridge/Homekit integration. Seems much simpler than OpenHAB/HA, but its early days. HomeKit automation is still pretty basic.

I have just received my unit with the nice chinese manual and cannot get it to connect. Here's what I am doing.....

I turn the unit on and connect my phone to the "Broadlink Prov" wifi signal.

I start the e-Control app and select "Add device, then I enter my SSID and password. I then hit Configure and it eventually times out saying Configuration Failed.

Can anyone tell me how I go about getting this connected?

Nope, password in numerical only. SSID has upper and lowercase alpha.

Hmm, my unit is a synology 1900. I noticed reading that thread it was mentioned that these cheap wifi units dont go up to the higher channels so I will try dropping down a bit, I am on 11 at the moment.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

Well got it working although I am not quite sure how :-) It will now turn on and off the TV but will not operate the Mitsubishi heat pump which is what I bought it for. Anyone sucessfully using it with a Mitsubishi ?

I think you might be expecting this to be more complex than it really is. Here is what you do on an iPhone, should be similar on Android.

Download the Broadlink app, not the IHC app.

Hook up your phone to your normal wifi network, not any new ones. Turn on the device, and then press 'add device' in the app. Put your phone close to the device. It should find it and setup the wifi for you automatically. It transfers the wifi credentials you use on your phone to the device.
