Discovered today that you can set up my Alexa Spot using public wifi i.e. where you need to log in via a web based log in web page. This makes it easier to get my Spot working when staying a hotel. I used the web based set up screen to do this via Amazon. Snuggling down now to listen to my podcasts via Anypod. Love my Spot(s).

All I need now is a way to use two of them in stereo.

Use the skill "my pod" and upload a folder of your music to Google drive. Then you can ask "Alexa, open my pod and play _________"

No monthly fees!

I guess you've found out by now. Sorry, feel guilty about not replying but never bought that particular combination.

All goods. Turned out to be $23 economy shipping.

Pretty happy with my new Amazon products particularly now that I can be half asleep in bed and tell Alexa to turn off the monitor, heater and lights in the room by saying Good Night.

Might make a new skill that answers the question, What is the WiFi password when guests arrive, and chuck them on my Guest VLAN.

THanks! I didn't know it could do this.

There's also a skill called 'My Media' that sets up a mini server on your PC and allows you to stream the music you have on your computer through Alexa (iTunes library or even just MP3's in nominated folders)

I tried it and it works well. There's a 7 day trial but the full version will cost you $5 a year, which is not too bad for the functionality of playing your own music through Alexa (although of course your PC will have to be turned on).

Hi,

is anyone using Amazon Dot with a bridged router? I have a 2nd router setup to extend my WiFi signal and I keep losing my connectivity to my wireless bulbs (LIFX and Belkin). Actually I cant even get the alexa app to find the Belkin hub to enable the skill.

Anyone experience any difficulties like this?

I had a similar problem until I setup all of my home automation equipment with static IP addresses... I suggest you try this solution yourself.

That sounds like your second router is also doing its own DHCP?

The bulbs aren't connected by IP Address. They're connected via ZigBee technology to the Hub and the Hub has an IP Address. so, allocate a static IP address to it.

Im not sure what bulbs you are using, but my LIFX ones dont have any hub, they just plug in and then i set them up via the LIFX app....

Phillips Bulbs use ZigBee and a hub

LIFX Bulbs use wifi.

So, you should be able to identify the bulbs on your network and then change the allocation to static IP.
