Regarding Alexa and Spotify -

When I used to say, "Alexa, play songs by artist" on Spotify, she used to play the Popular Songs from an artist that show up at the top of the list when you click on an artist's name (eg, the songs that get the most plays on Spotify - the ones that everyone likes).
Now, however, Alexa shuffles the songs when you ask to play a certain artist on Spotify and it doesn't seem as good - at least not to me. I'd rather hear the popular songs first not some random track picked from the artists catalog.

Does anyone have a fix?

^^ Answering my own question....lol

If you say "Alexa play songs by artist", and let the first song start playing, then you say, "Alexa, turn off shuffle" - she will. And the next song will be from the top list of popular tracks....

Sensibo works perfectly with any heat pump and Alexa. But online from their site it's cheaper

Likewise Ambiclimate works with any heat pump (well, "any heat pump that has a remote with infrared") and Alexa, but has some other pretty smart features - unsure if Sensibo or Tado etc have them, but it does analytics based on what the local weather is doing, has motion detection if you set it in away mode, measures humidity as well as temperature, has geofencing to turn on and off if you leave the house etc.  Admittedly some of these are a little gimmicky, probably most wont even use those settings, but I guess is part of the reason its marginally more cost.  The logging/statistics/analytical info and graphs etc on their app is a little overkill to be fair, I never refer to it, can also be a tad confusing.

chimera: ...Tado...

I control one of my Daikin heat pumps using Alexa and a Tado Smart AC controller. It works perfectly well. The geofencing feature means you set the environment for 'home' and 'away' then forget about it.

However, while adding a Tado device is much cheaper than replacing the heat pump, you do need one Tado device for each heat pump.

Can someone please clarify the difference between Amazon Music Unlimited, Individual and Family?  I  have three devices  and the basic  $5.49 a month package, and I assumed that upgrading to a package that let me listen to Amazon Music on any device would be straight forward.  The best part of an hour trawling though multiple FAQs, has me still almost as much in the dark as when I started.

I 'think' I'd been getting confused between NZ, Oz, and US dollars, as I expected  to upgrade and pay NZ$14.49 a month for the any device package, but I can see and Individual plan  at AU$13.49, and Family for AU$20.49/month.  The difference between those two is not not clear.  Do I need the AU$20.49/month option to listen any of my three devices?   There are two of us living here.

I was in JB HI-Fi today and the have the old ones on special. They are selling for $59 I think. The older black Echo Plus models are going for $134

I have been reading this forum with some interest and finally decided to purchase some Echo Dots and ended up getting two Gen 3 Dots from PB Tech, where they are selling for $60 each which is by far the cheapest I have seen for the latest model.

After watching a lot of reviews I decided on these over the Gen 2 model as the sound quality from these blows the previous ones away.

A wee update on my situation.  I started  with a Spot while waiting for the right coloured Echo, and enable Amazon Music Unlimited at $5.99/month which played on the Spot.  When I got two Echos I wan't to transfer Amazon Music, but I'm buggered if I could work out how to do it.  I was eventually pointed to this page, which didn't really help.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201379910

In the end I took a chance and upgraded to the $13.99/month while being far from clear what it would give me. It worked out fine.  We can now play from Amazon music from any of the devices, but it can be a frustrating experience getting past Alexa's pedantry when it comes to syntax.  'Alexa, play the best of Five Finger Death Punch' results in some sort of mix by someone else.  'Alexa, play the top songs by...' worked OK though.  I think playlists might be the way to go.

One we problem is wasting some dollars on a Blue Tooth receiver when I thought I'd need to transfer audio from the Echo in the kitchen to the HiFi in the lounge, but having it on all devices made that unnecessary.  I've been taking it slow, but it's time to invest in some lighting, but with each bulb costing as much as a Dot, its a bit of an investment. frown

Parents-in-law bought a Harman Kardon Allure (with Alexa) and an Amazon Echo (for the studio) from Noel Leeming. The Amazon Echo came with a US plug - is this normal when buying from Noel Leeming?
