slightly unrelated but i guess but i think a) the grass is always green on the other side and b) there is always something better to aspire to.

there is always the eagerness to get to the next level in the career, get that car/boat,

there is always someone who is having it better than you.

i find myself in the same boat, whether to go to aus or not, and then when i look at the bigger picture, the 20-30% increase may not be that worth it especially if ur single. probably better if ur a couple then you can get more savings

If you are planning to move to AU my one bit of advise would be try and land a job before you arrive.
I have heard of people taking up to 6 months to get work. (and of-course a lucky few people landing work in days).

I spend 10 years living in Melbourne before returning to Dunedin.

Melbourne has lots to do and is has great public transport.

Overall I felt the cost of living was less than NZ (I brought a house at late 90's so it was affordable)

But I moved back because of 1) family
2) I hate the 14 days of 35-40 degrees days you get every summer
3) 1+ hour each way daily commute sucked even though I had a company vehicle so was free of cost.

If being as hot as f*** is your thing.

Personally I prefer cool weather.
