Looks like paid iBooks have gone live this morning, long time coming and great that we now have choice across Apple, Amazon and Kobo.

Thanks for the info! Looks like Apple would still need to organize the iBook store better than current but it is a start anyway.

Currently of all listed paid books the first one appears to be Fifty Shades of Grey!!!

Itunes desktop still only shows the same free books as before. Maybe it is only on the ipad/iphone inbuilt bookstore?

Oh woah, I checked again and they've literally started appearing since last looking at it. I guess it's being rolled out in phases? (Three extra categories appeared).

I'm sure that is planned because it was the same on Amazon for ages too. With terrible reviews also.

I believe that it'll officially launch later today alongside iBooks 3.
