Hi there,

My issue is not a new one and have searched for a similiar problem and just confused myself from several answers.
I have an ipad 2 and a brother DCP J140W wireless printer, downloaded the app so I can print from the web through the app no problem  but cant print an email from mail. The error message is cant find  airport printer.

i have read about different downloads eg airport express and similiar  but as i mentioned before confused myself with what will actually work.

Any help on this basic but frustrating topic would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

I don't have a wireless printer, but I bought and installed a program called Fingerprint 2 that just sits in my taskbar and can be used with any printer.

It seems to work with both my iPad and iPhone, no problem.

I know that is probably not much help, but just saying what works for me. Many people use Fingerprint even if they already have an AirPrint printer, according to their website.

They have a free trial, so it might be worth giving it a go.

Does your Brother printer support the AirPrint protocol?

If not then you need a 3rd party software solution as da5id mentioned. The 3rd party app would need to be running at all times on a computer that is able to access the printer, and the computer must also be connected to your network

It acts as a faux AirPrint destination for your iPad, so instead of printing straight to the printer, your iPad sends the job to the 3rd party app, which then sends it on to the printer.

Examples of this solution are Fingerprint on Windows, and Printopia for Mac.

That Brother model doesn't appear to support AirPrint
You could try FingerPrint as mentioned above, I've used this before and it worked great
