So my son says. Was watching a movie last night when an actor pulled out his phone, it had large txt showing, this phone i need. was told it is http://www.apple.com/nz/ipod/ Are these phones prepaid the normal $20 monthly. Perfect for solving the eye strain.

Sorry, but there's some confusion here. Your son probably wants an iPhone, not the iPod. The iPod is like the iPhone, but without the phone.

Many of the phone UIs you see on TV aren't real, may well have been a fake UI that was being shown (the fake UIs always have big text since the idea is that the viewer needs to be able to read the text).

Well I can't say for sure, I didn't see the piece after all. I know that Android phones have options for larger text sizes and even screen-reading capabilities, and there is "Big Launcher" a third party launcher alternative that makes everything large. I'm sure there will be lots of Android apps that replace standard phone apps with larger alternatives too. If you're after IOS in particular options may be more limited, but I would still think there will be plenty of accessibility oriented options available.

I was watching a TV episode other day where there was lots of "Microsoft consideration" another name for "product placement".

They had a couple of Nokia Lumia 920 but the screen looked nothing like a real Windows Phone...

There is SIP soft phone software that works on iPod touch, so you can use it as a phone in a WIFI zone.

You can also make video calls with Skype and FaceTime.

So yeah, it's a phone - wireless, just not cellular.

Also, you might have to use it in a speaker phone mode, or connect via iPhone earphones with a mic for some privacy in conversations.

Not sure I agree. It has a speaker and a microphone. No SIM card, but you can still call someone with it :)

I put a SIP softphone app on an ipod touch latest gen just recently. You need to hold it back to front and upside down to get the mic by your mouth and the speaker by your ear.
