Hi fellow geeks, just wondering what the apple tv4 is offering up as far as streaming channels goes.is streaming the new Oz channels possible with workarounds? Can't be long till lightbox and tvnz load up?

Yes it is possible. I use an app called TV Streams, which allows you to load up the direct url of the streams, currently I have 7, 7two, 7mate, 7flix, 9 and the ten streams loaded in. You do need a dns unblocker service like unotelly which I use. TV3 has the 3now app, but this doesn't work to well with the unotelly settings though. Channel 7 and channel 10 from Aus both have on-demand apps.

Can you provide more info on how you did this? Or is there a website with the details that you can link to please?

I'd be interested in TV Streams info too.

If you're geo-unblocking then BBC has an excellent ATV4 app. I think it has live streaming but there's loads of on demand content which is what I've been watching. There's also TVPlayer which offers live streams of many UK Channels, although it's really poor quality and buggy at the moment, but they are apparently still in Beta so it may improve. Don't be tempted to sign up for premium with that, though, as the premium channels won't stream on ATV4 anyway.

I have two or three Aussie apps loaded also. We normally watch Ten for Family Feud, but lately the stream has been hanging so badly that it's unwatchable. Not sure why because I can stream Hulu in HD without issue.

The nice thing with this model of Apple TV is that you can have apps from all the different app stores sitting together on your home page and can skip from Hulu to BBC without changing the device region. Sure, you need to log in to each different app store to download them, but once you have them they co-exist very happily.

The other apps I really would like on there are TVNZ On Demand, 4OD (UK) and Fanpass. Then it would be the only device I need for SVOD.

I use this app https://appsto.re/nz/TDCO_.i (looks like it isn't free anymore, pretty sure I didn't pay for it) you download it on your apple tv and iOS device, then you put the links in which I will link below. The links you enter on the iOS app iCloud sync with the apple tv app. you then open the apple tv app and the links load, then you simply click on one link and can view. you can adjust the quality of the channel 7 streams by removing the high and have it just end as master.m3u8, this loads the variable stream. same with the channel 9 stream just remove the 3000. cheers to Apssattv for most of the links.

Thanks, I finally got around to downloading the app and it's great. The 7 channels play flawlessly in what looks like HD, but the last 3 just buffer. I might fiddle with the quality a bit if I can. Now I just need to track down the UK free to air links as well. I wish 4 would hurry up and make an ATV app.

Thanks. Interestingly I find the official 10 app has been buffering horrendously lately to the point where it's unwatchable.
