Ziphone2

Ziphone 2.0 will basically let you activate, jailbreak and unlock and iphone made - from OTB 1.0->1.1.3. Installs Installer3 too and works on PC or Mac (I'm using Mac). I've just updated my 1.0.2 OTB via a full 1.1.3 restore and then running Ziphone 2 - 45seconds later, unlocked 1.1.3 using Voda NZ. From now on - use this app for all your unlocking.

I can confirm this works perfectly!! It is, by far, the simplest jailbreak I have used so far!

lotech - may I please correct you on one point you made in your post...

lotech: ... via a full 1.1.3 restore (upgrading BL3.9->4.6) ...

This is not true - your bootloader (BL) does not get upgraded during the restore process. If you are upgrading or restoring to 1.1.3 then you will get an upgraded firmware (1.1.3 obviously Wink) and an upgraded baseband (4.03.13_G). iTunes should never touch your bootloader as it is too dangerous. And the only time ZiPhone touches your bootloader is if you have an OTB 1.1.2/1.1.3 and you wish to downgrade your bootloader from 4.6 to 3.9 (this is so that you're able to upgrade to the 1.1.3 baseband version 4.03013_G as currently the 4.6 unlock only works on 4.02.13_G baseband - I think they're working on a solution for this).

Anyway, I have an OTB 1.1.1 that I had soft-upgraded to 1.1.3 a couple of weeks ago. I was never happy with the first jailbreak "soft-upgrade" method as it left the baseband at 4.02.13_G and also did not update the kernel.

This new jailbreak is performed on a freshly restored (from iTunes) 1.1.3 firmware so everything is updated properly and there's no longer the need to go through those familiar steps of restore to 1.1.1 -> jailbreak/oktoprep -> upgrade to 1.1.2 -> jailbreak -> soft-upgrade etc etc

So in a nutshell - here is what I did to get to 1.1.3 "proper":

1) Restored to 1.1.3 in iTunes
2) Ran ZiPhoneOSX.app (selected activate and jailbreak only as my phone is IPSF unlocked)

Done :)

One thing I should mention though is that you will need to patch the AppSupport file again for callerID to work. They've fixed the MobilePhone and MobileSMS crashing of 1.1.2 but we still don't have native callerID support being that NZ isn't a supported country.

These are the additional steps I took for the issues around New Zealand being an unsupported country:

1) Patched AppSupport - go here: http://users.skynet.be/ra045246/ and download "PhoneNumber Dynamic Library" (build 10 at time of writing) and the "readme". Also download the "Phone Number Templates". Read the readme - it's very simple.

2) To go along with the CallerID patched AppSupport fix I also edited the nz section in my UIPhoneFormats.plist found in /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/ (NB: make sure you've set your region format to New Zealand and reboot for the changes to take effect). This means the phone numbers in my phone's Contacts are formatted correctly e.g. 021 234 567 instead of (02) 1234567. Same applies for receiving calls from unrecognised numbers and also when dialing a number. I like these thing to look right :P

This is what my nz format section looks like:
    <key>nz</key>
    <array>
        <string>02# ### ####</string>
        <string>02# ### #####</string>
        <string>(0#) ### #####</string>
        <string>00 $</string>
        <string>+64 2# ### ####</string>
        <string>+64 2# ### #####</string>
        <string>+64 # ### #####</string>
        <string>0508 $</string>
        <string>0800 $</string>
        <string>0900 $</string>
    </array>

3) Edited carrier.plist file to get rid of the annoying "Call Forwarding Active" message that pops up when making or receiving a call - found in /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Unknown.bundle/ (just change ShowCallForwarded and ShowCallForwarding values to false)

4) Install Signal.app - I needed to do this becasue my phone is IPSF unlocked. 1.1.3 brings a new baseband which has an additional check for a valid sim card. Signal.app (and a .plist file to automatically run Signal.app on boot) fixes the issue.

Roll on 1.1.4!

I just couldn't resist using it to unlock my iPod.

This I got to say is THE best and quickest unlock solution for the iPod (and also for you iPhone users out there). Just 1 minute for my one.

Although I was bummed that there wasn't a Windows GUI (I wanted to get a Mac Mini this new year...), it was easy just running the 'Jailbreak only' option.

There goes my $28...

You can get the Windows GUI version from i.unlock.no. Haven't used it as I'm on Mac but should be just the same.

ziPhone 2.3 actually came with the ziPhoneWindowsGUI.exe included but I see 2.4 doesn't have it. i.inlock.no keep their GUI wrapper pretty well updated using the latest version of ziPhone anyway Smile

HAHAHA - cheeky bugger! It isn't me! Is it you nzbullet? Tongue out (jk)

[EDIT]
I'm tempted to put a free auction on there for the poor suckers who are going to pay $30 for some freely available software...

Off-topic - has anyone seen these? iPhone rip-off
[/EDIT]

Damn I've been rumbled Tongue out LOL only kidding. I see the Auction has been stopped by TradeMe.

Bless the poor wee iPhone rip-offs they will never quite make it. Don't get me wrong there are *some* reasonably good ones out there but I would say that 99.9% of them are a pure waste of money

Man that auction fired me up... hate people that make a buck off the less informed..

Anywho just got a txt on my newly 1.1.3 upgraded iphone and the number showed as +64 27 bla bla even though
the number is in my phone book. If I call it shows the number...

I did add the contact fixes after the upgrade... little confused. I've received a few others and they were ok.

If you dial out the number manually (but don't click call), does it show the contacts name under the number??
[EDIT] NB: You should be able to enter the number as either +6427####### or 027####### and it should display the contact's name... [/EDIT]

What is the format of the number?? I may have missed a format... i.e. +64 27 ### #### etc

Yep - but can you see the contact's name below the phone number if you enter their number via the keypad??

Also - you might like to update your auto-sig now that you've upgraded to 1.1.3 Tongue out
