Hi There!

I am wanting to upgrade my MB Pro 13 Mid 2010 2.4Ghz 4GB, to something with 120-240gb SSD and 8GB (Happy with a 2012 or something though would love a Retina which sadly I can't justify).

What do you think my device is worth, what do you think I'd need to pay to get something in my desired spec?

Anyone want what I have or have a good deal on what I want?

Why not just buy more ram and an SSD for your current machine. IIRC SSD was not standard until Retina, so you would have to find a CTO with an SSD if buying second hand.

I think your computer is worth $300 - $400. You'll have to spend $500 - $700 to get a newer stock MBP (4GB, no ssd). Then you'll have to upgrade the RAM and hard drive yourself.

Retina is a nice to have, but I won't cry about not having it so long as I can get 1080P minimum. SSD and 8GB is more important.

Purchase of MacBook Pro 2012 (4GB RAM and 1TB HDD) = $500 - $700

Here's one for $650 with 8GB of RAM

So with an SSD added to that you're looking at $800 minus whatever you get for your laptop.

It really depends if you sell low and buy high, or sell high and buy low.

You need to do some research. The only 1080p MacBook from that era is the 17".

I will have my old MBP 13: Retina for sale in about 1-2weeks when my new one arrives. It will be 4 years old towards the end of this year.

It is a core i5 with 512Bg SSD and 8Gb RAM...

It does however have faulty BlueTooth - this is a physical fault as far as I can tell as the tiny antenna wires have become detached./degraded from he little clips that plug them into the BlueTooth/WiFi module. Someone with a modicum of electrical/soldering skill could probably fix it!

Other than that it is in pretty good nick.

@item for some reason I didn't see that before I made a purchase. Out of Curiosity, how much do you want for it?

I purchased a retina 2014 with a faulty SSD incorrectly assuming it would take a standard SSD to find it takes what looks like a M.2 SSD, but further investigation seems to indicate they aren't real m.2 or something? Pinouts are different. Insane.

I don't think so! Everyone makes a fairly big deal on getting the best spec you can afford as they are notoriously difficult to upgrade or repair/replace parts.

You might find an Apple service centre/reseller who could do something for you.

Re: mine, I had a look on eBay for closed/sold identical models (ME866LL/A) and they range from NZ$900 to NZ$1400 depending on condition etc.

I would say given the condition and the BlueTooth glitch, $850 would be a very fair price. I have the original box etc and although there are a few very minor marks on the chassis, the screen is good and everything works well.

According to CocoNut Battery, the battery is at 90.5% of design capacity at 5728mAh, 397 cycles and Good heath.
