I have a need to use classic Voice Control for voice dialling instead of Siri. But I can't for the life of me get this to work on iOS 11. I have tried on an iPhone X and and iPhone SE.

I go into General/Accessibility/Home Button (Side Button on iPhone X), tick "Voice Control" under the "Press and hold to speak" setting and now when I press and hold the home button... NOTHING HAPPENS!

Am I missing something here?

Same thing here under iOS 11.1.1. Sigh.

Interesting...

Updating to 11.2 fixes it, BUT if you had Voice Control selected when you did the upgrade it will still not work after the upgrade until you switch it to Siri then back to Voice Control.

Getting sick of all the bugs in iOS 11. The worst I've seen in a long long time. Apple software didn't used to be this bad.

A couple of others:

Seen this multiple times; the handset would randomly enable the cellular setting to block caller ID information after performing the update.

When you ask Siri to 'play music' she tells you 'OK, Done' but no music plays.

The timing of Siri seems to be off as well, say hey Siri and it doesn't prompt (or wait long enough for) you to state a command, just fails to acknowledge/record the command.

How about Live Photos re-enabling itself randomly. Bugs the crap out of me. Nobody wants live photos ever.

.. and bluetooth which keeps enabling itself.  I'll do that myself if I want it, thanks.

I have noticed the Hey Siri issue as well.

Also unlocking my phone sometimes fails to unlock my watch - it's totally random as to whether it will work or not. I'm not sure if that's an iPhone issue or a watch issue.

Apple need to clean up their act, or people will start questioning why they are paying so much money for product that doesn't work properly.

Yep. iPhone is the worst smart phone on the market... except for all the others.

The main reason I like ios over andorid, is basically app support. The apps in ios I have found are better and more full featured, as well as more reliable. I am guessing ios11 is so buggy, is because it has had more and more features added. This does create a problem as the software gets more bloated and complex.

I'm not a programmer so I don't know how it all works under the hood, but I don't understand why adding new features causes bugs in (seemingly) unrelated existing features which worked perfectly in previous releases.

FFS Classic Voice Control broken again in 11.2.1.

Can anyone still on 11.2 confirm that it IS still working on that for them?

Can anyone on 11.2.1 confirm that it IS NOT working for them?

Working on an SE with 11.2.1

EDIT: When I say working, it listens, then if it feels like it, does what I say, otherwise, makes up some random thing and does that instead!
