Hi, just sitting here listening to my sister moan about her phone.

She is playing Solitaire, but every time she starts a game a gambling thing pops up.

I have not witnessed this, just typing what I hear.

Anyone come across this, or have a fix?

Yep that's called advertising which is in most "free" apps on mobile devices, annoying but you either pay to have ads removed via the app or put up with it.

Thanks everyone. I'll tell her to pay up.

So I guess kids could install the free version and then get subjected to these sorts of ads?

That would depend on how responsibly managed the device is by the child's parent.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Subjected to the same on tv.

King pay mega dollars for primetime tv showing of CandyCrush and all the little RPG games they have under wing. More recently noticing a number of play for free casino ads also (on tv)

They all come with that hook. Get you in. Squeeze money out via ads or upgrades.

I’ve found that the Adblock+ app also does pretty well at blocking the more invasive adds on my iPhone... still get the little box at the bottom, but no add in it 👍

They arent subjected to the ads, they want the ads. Thats why they took the free app. If they dont want the ads they pay for the app. This has never changed, not unless we expect app devs to work for nothing.
