My iPP (12" about 10 months old running latest iOS) has an odd habit.

At first, I thought I was seeing things but as time has passed I realise I'm not going mad and the device is indeed coming to life after being shut down. Not every time and I don't know how soon but not immediately.

Anyone come across this before?

Do you mean after it has been turned off or after it has been put to sleep?

Could it be Siri related - Siri has "Access when locked" and "Allow Hey Siri” settings.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

When it is shut down, I will often go and get it out of the bag and find it's on again.

For example, I'm presently in Japan and I charged the iPad before leaving NZ a little over a week ago, turned it off completely and put it in my carry on.

Today, since there is a typhoon outside, I decided to get it out for the first time since leaving NZ and use it. Low and behold, it was on awaiting my fingerprint!

Power button getting bumped in bag?

Long press to turn off, but only a short one to turn on.

The bit that doesn't make sense is where you say it is waiting for finger print, when powered up from complete power down have to enter passcode to enable touch ID.

You shouldn't be able to access it via touch ID if it was completely shutdown, as it should require your passcode after restarting. So I suspect that you aren't fully shutting it down, or it has a problem where it isn't completely shutting down.

Well, the slide to power of comes up and I slide it.

I think it should be a long press on and off, personally.

It has a quite chunky Logitech case on that recesses the power button which ought to stop accidental pressing I would think.

Are you charging it after it has been switched off by any chance (even with a power bank)?

Doesnt applying power when it is in the 'off state', cause it to turn on?

Back it up and restore it to factory settings then put your backup back on it and see how it goes. It may just be a software glitch. Just be aware that things like music and books are not included in backups. Also, if you are using iCloud Photo Library, make sure that everything has uploaded.
