I've seen the other posts reagrding people picking up telecom cell towers on their iphone, and i've also heard through the grapevine that telecom in launching a new network on the first of november that uses sim cards, and is a 3g network of some description.

If you put 2 & 2 together here one would think that if you could get a telecom sim card, then you could run your iphone on the telecom network. I assume telecom isn't going to sell sim cards by them selves straight away, cos they want your $$$ from buying a handset, but the idea of having the freedom of choosing which network you wanted to go on if you have a unlocked iphone seems very good.

Any thoughts on this, or has anyone got anymore info about the new network roll-out?

First off Telecom's network isn't launching in November. It will probably be launching around the middle of next year.

Secondly Telecom's network is officially 850MHz GSM + 2100MHz UMTS in the major cities. You would get no better 3G coverage using an iPhone on Telecom then you will from Vodafone.

But.. Unofficially Telecom will be scrapping 850 GSM and rolling out an 850Mhz UMTS network but this is not official yet.
