Seems to be mainly a security update. https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT212807

MacOS 11.6 as well. Also listed as security, so I wonder why it isn't 11.5.3.

Hardly worth a thread when iOS 15 is just days away.

In the interests of stability I prefer to stick with the existing version of iOS rather than jumping on a major release as soon as it comes out, so Apple's new practice of continuing to offer minor security updates for the outgoing version is really good in my view.

Latest security update for iOS and OSX has a fix for this. https://citizenlab.ca/2021/09/forcedentry-nso-group-imessage-zero-click-exploit-captured-in-the-wild/

14.8 update has broken Apple Carplay with MZD connect infotainment atleast (CX-5 and beyond) so just a heads up.

Damn, I have a CX-5. Is this a widely reported problem, or potentially isolated to you?

@alasta I received the reddit notification about the issue literally 5 mins after my iPhone X finished updating to 14.8. I am getting my brand new CX-5 delivered tomorrow so I expect issue to be there but I will test it. I am guessing that Mazda will push out an infotainment update in the coming days or weeks?

I see English may not be their first language - break not brake

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Thanks. It would be great if you could report back. I will hold off on the iOS update until there is more clarity.

I am hoping that it can be fixed with another update from Apple's end, as I imagine updating the Mazda system would involve a lot of stuffing around.

On the contrary, worth a thread because iOS 15 is close. It suggests important security issues that could not wait until a schedules release date.

Also the exploit was very very nasty. Absolutely the thread was worth it because security spyware loop holes should be immediately patched. Also people can find out if the update breaks infotainments (pouring one out for CX-5 users).

On another note, I wonder if NSO has anything to do with the newly blacklisted IPs originating from Israel on my PBX?
