I want something that will charge my phone, hold it still and visible while I drive and not be stuck on the window.

What I am worried about is

if I get the car charger cradle and have the iphone plugged in, always charging when in the cradle, will this hurt the battery at all ?
(will it shorten the battery life?)

In terms of your battery, charging it whenever you can will as far as im aware slightly reduce the life of the battery but i don't think its major, i don't know much about this side of things so im sure someone else can give more info on this.

and a USB ciggie lighter charger from JB hifi

I use it for driving around using Waze and other GPS apps.

spent the weekend checking out phone holder.
consideration :
I have a Iskin on my iphone so the stand has to be able to fit the case as well
I wanted a charger as well as a holder
I prefer it not to be attached to the window

I actually bought a allkit II for $50

Its a stand, charger and has a usb port on the side also a FM tuner not that I will be using that.

It is very well made and fits the phone with case perfectly
It does not wobble, and I like my phone down at that level not on the screen.
