Hi

I have an iPhone 3G with a cracked screen and I'd like to get a replacement digitizer but don't want to get a cheap and nasty copy off TradeMe/ebay so have seen this which seems to be good in so far as it's the digitizer in the frame so no messing about with a hairdryer trying to get the broken glass out!

According to the site, they sell genuine Apple parts but I'm always dubious so wanted to see if anyone had any opinions/experiences with them?

The phone isn't NZ new and so I can't follow any warranty/Applecare path.

Hi - I hope it all went well with your fix. I've done a DIY of LCD/digitizer on a 3Gs previously.... and it wasn't an easy repair, but very satisfying when it was all back together and it actually turned on and looked good. I think that there will always be a bit of mucking around removing bits of glass from the outer bezel, as that's a separate unit.

Some of their prices seem a bit odd. I just ordered a "genuine" apple bumper for $15 rather than the $55 that apple charge and I've also noticed that they're selling the elements case reduced from $99.95 to $1!

The Elements Cases are $1 + $69.95 for a colour

I'll report on my 3G repair later in the week as it's going in for a new LCD+Digitiser+Back cover.

Nathan is a great guy but I suppose the proof of the pudding is in the eating

Made an order yesterday afternoon, and received it this morning.
Ordered the bumper case, and the phone call yesterday after i made the order online was to say it wasn't in stock till next week, but that they would send a similar case to me for free and then send the actual case next week.

From my persepective they are brilliant, the fact that they actually offered to give me a slightly different case as well as what I ordered certainly sweetened the deal for me.
I'm certainly going to buy some more parts from them in the future.

I placed an order on sunday for a bumper and 2 USB cables.

Was tempted by the element case but I don't like that they left the sim slot open. Just ruins the look of the case to me.

But interested in partsurf's own case they are making

Just got a call from Nathan at partsurf, my bumper case is out of stock so he's sending me an element one until it arrives. Now that is great customer service especially since he's based in Christchurch and with what's been going on there his business must be chaotic at the moment.

They'll certainly have me as a loyal customer.

meh, initially impressed but now not so much.

Ordered the bumper, I was then rung to say it wasn't in stock and he would send a generic bumper till it arrived and I could keep the cheap one. Also he would send the element case as a trial to see what I thought of it, which when it arrived had a note saying I had the option of buying it for 50% off if I liked it etc etc.
Follow up call last week to say the bumper would be through early this week hopefully, and he would send a trackpack with it to send the other 2 cases (element loaner/trial and the generic bumper) back to them when the bumper arrived with me. No mention of keeping the other bumper or purchasing the other if I wanted it (which would have been likely as the element case is simply awesome).
I can appreciate what they are dealing with down in CHCh at present but to be told 1 story then another is rather offputting.

i ordered a white bumper and a couple of usb cables from them. a few days later i received a blue bumper and the cables. i looked on my invoice to make sure i did order the white one and I had but noticed in small font saying the white bumpers where out of stock and they would receive shipment early this week and ship it then. nothing mentioning the blue obviously not apple one.

i also did notice that they say all of there iPhone accessories are genuine apple. the bumper i received is not apple also the cables look like they are not apple ones either ( im not worried the quality is great but the packaging is not apple and the insulation is more "plastic" then my apple ones).

i was also reading about the element vapor case and that sounds dodgy as well. them saying they are specially made for them with that gel. the element case webpage implies that the only place to get them is from the element case website.
