Hi,

Both mine (Aug 2010) and wife's (Nov 2010) iPhone4 (32G) suffers higher than normal(than 4.2) battery draining experience (No Personal HotSpot enabled) since upgraded to iOS 4.3 under normal usage condition with Vodafone network.

Also we're having frequent TXT fail to send, very slow to receive from couple days ago in North Shore / Albany Area.

I have to turn it to airplane mode and back to join network to send TXT.

Anyone having similar experience?

There are lots of posts about the battery issue in the other iOS 4.3 thread. I have found that my battery consumption is higher than 4.2, but after allowing it to go completely flat and recalibrate, it's not drastic. Maybe 10-15% worse off than before.

At least you don't have a 2G iPod like I do. I have to put it into airplane mode whenever i'm not using it so the battery doesn't drain while it's not being used. I doubt i'll upgrade if the new OS version is even worse for battery life.

Hi,
Hopefully letting the phone's recalibrate their batteries will help... but just wondering if you've done a complete reboot since upgrading (hold sleep button then slide to power off, wait a while then restart), or possibly a forced restart (hold both the sleep & home buttons down for about 7 - 10 secs until phone screen goes black, then it should restart itself). Sorry if you've tried these, but it's surprising how many little niggles these methods can fix.
Not sure about the TXT issue tho'.... may or may not be related....?

Cheers,
Mike

Mines been off charge since around 12pm.. its already at 87% after some light surfing in the lunchroom and up to now (13:42).

These days its tethered to USB whenever possible so I don't run out of juice!

My battery gets cycled often (forget to charge, it gets low and shuts itself off)... plus I power-cylce it now ansd then. It makes no difference to running time.

I'm of the understanding that power cycling makes no significant difference to lithium battery performance. What matters is cumulative usage. For example, discharging from 100% to 90% and then recharging 10 times wears out a lithium battery more or less the same amount as discharging from 100% to 0% in one go.

Also, they wear out even if you don't use them at all.

The only advantage of power cycling is to recalibrate the battery meter. Doesn't give you any more or less run time, just a better picture of where your battery is at through it's cycle.

Apple has some good tips to keeping battery usage down. Im sure most ppl have already seen this http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
Though might not help if its a bug in the new update.

I had this issue after first upgrading to 4.3.

For me I was able to fix the issue by allowing the battery to drain completely and then recharging to 100% from the wall socket.
