I ordered a Switcheasy Canvas 2 and it arrived on Monday.

http://www.switcheasy.com/products/CANVAS_iPad2/

It's really nice. Adds a bit of weight but makes the iPad 2 feel quite sturdy. Only thing I think could be better is the latch mechanism is a bit clunky. It might get better as the case gets worn in though.

There is a video review here:

Any other thoughts on good cases? I don't really like the Smart Cover by Apple as it's quite pricey and it didn't seem to offer much protection.

I like the smart cover, but would also like a sleeve to put it in when travelling, as the smart cover doesn't protect the back. Anyone with any recommendations. I have seen the belkin pleated neoprene sleeve, but I don't like the look of it and want something black and really simple with a zip.

I want something more that just the front protection the Smart Cover offers and was waiting for this:

http://www.speckproducts.com/pixelskin-hd-wrap-ipad-case-black.html

to come on the market shortly, but had not seen the Canvas 2 or the Skinny. They both look pretty good. Decisions, decisions.

I really like the look of this cover but one reservation I have is that it looks as though it's fairly thick. There's the polycarb back-plate (which I like the idea of) but behind that there's another layer of the cover. How does it work/feel in practice?

I have a smart cover and have a few leather hides lying around and some leather cord. I will probably just hand make something real basic and rustic looking by stitching together a simple pouch. Cant decide on an open top, flap with velcro etc. Either way I should probably wait for the ipad to arrive but am tempted to use the cover as a template and make something in the meantime.

I had a ZAGGmate keyboard case for the original iPad and my new case for iPad2 arrived yesterday. I love these cases and would get the one without the keyboard (if I didn't need a keyboard that is) in preference to any other case around. It adds an insignificant & unnoticed amount of bulk & weight.

ZAGG partnered with Logitech for the second-generation cases so they are now called Logitech Keyboard Case by ZAGG. This new one is a little better than the original, with the keyboard having a nicer feel.

It's actually a pretty good case. No complaints from me. The latch has worn in a bit and is easier to clip shut now.

The device is really protected well and the canvas is really comfortable to grip.

The thickness feels fine to me and seems just right. It feels solid, kind of like a hardcover book. I just put the iPad2 with the case closed next to my closed Macbook Pro and they are of similar thickness.

My girlfriend has an iPad 1 with a leather case and it is much thicker than my iPad 2 with the Switcheasy Canvas 2.

I think this case works perfect for me... when I was using the iPad 2 without the case it felt almost too thin to be comfortable in my hands.

i got the smart cover when I bought it, wanted something to protect the back

bought one of the cheapo TPU "smart cover enhancers" off trademe, also got a screen cover and a stylus thing so my daughter can do drawings all in for $28 delivered

thought it would be really crappy, but at that price worth a shot. however I'm very pleasantly surprised, fit is good and it protects the bits that the smart cover doesn't. if you already have a smart cover no point spending more

I ordered the STM skinny from ubertec in akld, who shipped it to me as I'm based in palmy, nd it rocks. Adds very little bulk to the iPad and fits with a bestskinsever on the front and back.
Very happy With it, although like all cases it will be interesting to see what it looks like in a few months time.

I have looked at cases ad nauseum on the interweb and searched out reviews etc. The one I like the look of most is this:

http://www.speckproducts.com/ipad-2-cases-fitfolio-grey.html

I like it because it has a thin-ish hard back and the overall profile seems fairly slim. It's a reasonable price at USD39.99. Only problem is it's currently only available in red - black and grey are out of stock. Will order a grey one via Amazon once its available.

I've got one of these also and they're excellent - looks good, gives me a near-real size keyboard for when I need it, synchs painlessly with the iPad and doesn't add much weight/bulk.

very happy with it.

Can you buy these in New Zealand or do they have to be imported. Looking at getting one.

Yes, they are available from Ubertec. http://www.ubertec.co.nz/main/product/29019.html

When the exchange rate is good (as it is now) it can work out quite a bit cheaper to buy directly from ZAGG but delivery time by mail can take awhile. Either way, if you like using a keyboard, this case is a "must have" for iPads.
