I'm grabbing an iPhone for work, what is my best option:

Sign up to VF on an iPhone plan
Buy an iPhone outright and sign up for another provider

Looking for best bang for my buck, both on the initial purchase and on the ongoing costs.

If you can, hold out for a bit to see whats happening with the iPhone... reports that the iPhones will potentially drop in price when the new one is released very soon.

I would love to hold off, but I need an email enabled phone ASAP.

Don't buy one at all. Buy a Windows Phone 7 instead.

Can do.... Iphones, W7 and Blackberry are supported. Entirely up to me what I get.

What is the benefit of a W7 phone over an iPhone?

I can highly recommend an iPhone. We have been running 25 iPhones (mixture of 3G, 3GS and 4) here at work for the past 2 years and have had no hardware failures at all. They are easy to use (excellent for email, especially with Exchange) and will last the distance of a 24 month contract.
