Hi all

Ive looked around and cannot see any definitive setup guides for 2Degress on iOS5. Are the APN settings still there when a 2Degrees sim is installed?  Or if not, do I need to get some carrier app, and of so, which is best?

Tks all. I cannot test as dont have a microsim yet, just want to pre empt any issues for when I setup this Xmas gift phone for my daughter's partner

APNs are not device related think how confusing that would be.

Hi John.

I agree. What I meant was while the APN settings are gone for Voda and XT as they have carrier bundles in iOS5, is that the case for 2D? I recall reading that 2D did not have a carrier bundle in iOS5, so for one of their sims, are the APN settings visible rather than hidden?

Cheers
T

Effectively you shouldn't have an issue - simply put the SIM in the iPhone, pluc it into iTunes and start eth set up procedure...should all do it for you, I think.

I had to configure mine manually but it takes all of two minutes. Just put in "internet" as the APN for both the main setting and for tethering if you want it. I've found that leaving the APN blank will work okay on 2degrees' own network but will cause you problems when roaming onto Vodafone.

That answers my question, that on iOS5 the APN settings are visible, Alasta? On XT they aren't as its a built in carrier bundle

Yes, I was a bit worried when I heard that users on 'official' carriers don't have the ability to manually set the APN, but my 4S which I bought directly from Apple certainly has this setting available to change in exactly the same way that you would change it in iOS 4.

Edit: Forgot to mention that instructions seem to be a version or two of iOS behind, but there's enough there to get going.
