Easy as on my iPad2.  No problems so far.  Just remember to do the VPN part of it to install cydia.

I read that the VPN toggle is if there is an error? Cant recall, I read a guide at modmyi.com  Also, there is mention of a restore at the end, is that within the Absinthe process?

i just did the vpn thing and then it did what they said it would do, it crashed and then went thru a restore.  I think it's pretty hard to stuff it up anyway you do it.

I didn't have to do the vpn thing and the jailbreak completed fine first time.

To begin with safari icon was a blank white square, still worked fine though. Once I installed first app through cydia the usual safari icon came back. All else is sweet.

At the end the Absinthe programme (I did it on Windows) says to open your iphone and click on the Absinthe app. That does a restore afte which the Cydia app takes the place of the Absinthe one.

Mine was fine, no white icons. Cydia would not run, so restarted phone, it then ran and finished its filesystem setup and all good.

Ran Abisinthe and JB my ipad2 sweet as no issues straight through. Only uncertainty I had on the way thru was at the end when it says to touch the Abisinthe icon, I couldn't see what I was supposed to press as the font size on the computer I'm using is set to large and it said "to continue touch the ..." so I guessed it was the new icon and bingo it all worked.

Edit: ios5 has negated the need for most tweaks, I only want the jailbreak so I can run:
f.lux, showcase, swirlysms, firewall ip, wifi passwords and retina pad
