Hey thanks NZ Bullet. Sorry if you did'nt want me to use it in such a way but I used the XT logo on my iPod touch as its carrier image. Looks great.

Hi Nz bullet

Are you able to help me unlock an iphone from vodafone network? I currently have a PDA on the telecom network and looking to move to an iphone but still have it linked to Telcome account.

Is this possible?

Thanks..

Shame i cant use :(

Can you manually set the options?

EDIT:

Using iTunes 8.2 you CAN load up the carrier file

Mac:

  1. Open Terminal

  2. Type "defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE" (without " ")

  3. Restart iTunes

  4. Find your iPhone, Click "Check for Updates" while holding Alt..

  5. Find the .ipcc file you downloaded.

  6. Enjoy!

Same with Windows but use CMD and type "%ProgramFiles%\iTunes\iTunes.exe /setPrefInt carrier-testing 1"

I don't think its been asked but apologize if so. Will this XT Carrier pack work on the new Iphone 3G-S?

Pretty keen to get my hands on one but obviously want it on XT and would love the settings to be as easy as it was to install on 3G phone.

Help please.

I am not overly technically minded, but can do basics. I've been reading this thread and others in the forum, but I am still a little confused.

I have a 3G iPhone, updated today to OS 3.O, and use the latest iTunes 8.2.

So far all is working well on the vodafone network - MMS, tethering, etc.

I have always wanted to change it to the telecom network, which I prefer. So, from what I have read here, I can do that, right?

All I need is a XT sim card? If I get one and install it, will my phone still function as it does now? If not, what functions will I lose?

Or do I need to install this XT carrier pack for all functions to work on XT? Am I correct in interpreting here that I can't install the XT carrier pack through iTunes 8.2?

If someone can explain all this in plain English, I would be extremely happy. :-)

All you need todo really is to put in the XT Sim Card and your done,

To enable data, mms, tethering etc you will need to download the Telecom ipcc file, And then install via iTunes 8.2.

Your now on Telecom XT :) I have my iPhone on XT since the word go :P Here in Dunedin i get 5x the speed download wise.

The simplicity of it all makes it downright scary!

I just read the unlockit forum, so yes, I'm clearer now.

Thank you, irSilentone. I'm extremely jealous though. I live just up the road and don't get great download speeds.

BTW, is internet available on XT prepay? Will I be able to browse the internet on my iPhone without wifi?
